SPRYE attends the Rye Brook Senior Center First Annual Healthy Aging Expo .

Rye Brook Senior Center Director Liz Rotfeld and staff arranged for area community service providers such as the Alzheimer's Association, Life Alert and Yale/Greenwich Hospital to participate in their Healthy Aging Expo.
Billed as "Mastering the Art of Aging" older adults in the community received valuable health tips, blood pressure screening and a healthy lunch.
Michelle Dudley Moves to
the Rocky Mountain State

We all wish Michelle, seen here with board member Tilly Young, a wonderful journey as she relocates out west near Boulder, Colorado.
Michelle joined SPRYE in 2015 and in that time span she provided 115 of round trip rides and drove a total of 582 miles!
Michelle said she developed wonderful relationships with members and said she will miss each one.

John Cunningham, returns to the Wainwright House, 260 Stuyvesant Avenue in Rye to present the second half of his " Pretending to be Someone Else" memoir. John will be interviewed by Executive Director Marie Johnson to offer an insightful look at acting and offer the audience the opportunity a lively Q & A session.
Light refreshments will be served.  FREE  and open to the public

"Parenting Your Parent"
Leighann Lord, author, comedian, human speaks from the heart about being the sole care giver for both parents in a program that offers practical advice
What to expect when you find yourself juggling a career, family and aging parents.

Singin' and Swingin': Adventures in Jazz, Blues
and Improvisation.
Join jazz vocalist MJ Territo for an active adventure in singin' and swingin.' In this hands-on class yo will learn to clap and step swing rhythm; sing a jazz standard and a blues tune; and explore scat singing (improvised phrases sung without words). No prior musical experience required only the ability to have fun! Call or email the office as space is limited.

SPRYE's 8th Annual Benefit
This year the benefit, to be held at the Apawamis Club, to honor the four senior centers (Harrison, Port Chester, Rye and Rye Brook) for their commitment serving older adults in their communities. The evening promises to be fun and exciting with a Chinese auction, putting green, jewelry stand, wine toss and more!

" The Litchfield Law School: Guiding the New Nation"
Local author Paul Hicks will discuss his latest book at the Wainwright House.
Paul makes a convincing case that the law school provided the most innovative and successful legal education program in the country for almost fifty years.
Light refreshments will be served. 
FREE  and open to the public.

Saturday, October 19, 3:30 p.m.
Afternoon movie at the Rye Free Reading Room, 1061 Boston Post Road, Rye.
"Rashomon" (1951)
Directed by Akira Kurosawa, the movie is a riveting psychological thriller that investigates the nature of truth and the meaning of justice. Told in a series of flashbacks, the movie is widely considered to be one of the greatest films ever made.
FREE and open to the public.

Chinese lunch
Frank Woo will select an authentic area restaurants and help members chose delectable Chinese food that is shared family-style. Time and the restaurant will be determined at a later date. Reservations are a must and please call the office.

Thursday, November 14,   11:15 a.m. show
"An American in Paris"
Westchester Dinner Theater, 1 Broadway Place, Elmsford, presents the musical that starred Gene Kelly. Relive classic songs such as "I Got Rhythm " and "Love is Here to Stay." Group will car pool to the matinee.
Price for the show is $52 and does not include beverages and gratuities.

Holiday sing-a-long
Donna Cribari will be at the piano and Isobel Perry will be host at her home at 7 Kirby Lane in Rye for a festive afternoon of singing and laughter. Light holiday refreshments will be served.

The popular lunch for members will be held at the Shenorock Club, 475 Stuyvesant Avenue, Rye. Look for details in future weekly emails during the year.
