Engage IRL

The Engage In Real Life (IRL) initiative aims to get every kid involved in an extracurricular activity. Last year, nearly 19,000 kids were involved in a school club, a sport, the arts or a community activity, and there are plenty of ways to be involved this school year!

As we head into the school year, talk to your kids about what activities they are interested in this school year.

When kids are engaged in extracurricular activities, their attendance and academics improve.

Together Spokane

The Together Spokane is a joint initiative from Spokane Public Schools (SPS) and Spokane Parks and Recreation (Parks) that will improve schools, parks and neighborhoods across Spokane.

This November, you'll see two ballot items that make up the Together Spokane initiative:

The six-year SPS bond adds two pennies in its first year to your current amount of taxes paid to school bonds and would fund the creation of a four-year SPS Trades High School on the Spokane Community College campus, rebuild Adams and Madison elementary schools, and modernize sections of North Central High School and Garry Middle School to build safer and more modern facilities.

The 20-year Parks levy funds new parks, improved parks, park rangers, and more.
