$235,440 in grants awarded to SPS educators 🥳

On Sept. 13, the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools delivered 80 grants to 40 SPS schools.

On Grant Delivery Day, the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools awarded $235,400 in Back to School Grants, benefiting classrooms throughout the district. Educators submitted grant proposals to receive vital resources that enhance learning experiences for their students.

"Our Back to School Grant Program is designed to make educators' dreams a reality by providing the resources they need to inspire innovation in the classroom," said Natalie Murdock, FSPS executive director. "These projects not only fill important gaps but also align with the district's priorities. We couldn't make this happen without the incredible generosity of our donors, and I'm deeply grateful for their continued support."

Our Focus: Brianna Davis, First-Grade Teacher at Bissett

"Building that classroom community with your students is so important. My goal is to help my students understand the importance of an education and to strive to come to school each and every day.

As a teacher at Bissett, I can help set my students up for success by setting achievable goals that encourage them to want to be a better student. Being consistent with my classroom routines and making my expectations clear and understandable for all my students is so important to me. Not every student or grade level will be working at the same pace, and I am learning to understand that it is okay. As an educator, I have to think of it as a marathon and not a sprint. Even the smallest success each day is a win in my book.”
