Renewing All Things in Christ… Through Service

Catechesis, or the work of teaching our faith, is at the center of all we do as a Church. Saint John Paul II reminds us that "catechesis always has been and always will be a work for which the whole Church must feel responsible" (Catechesi Tradendae 16).

No matter our age, station, or profession, we are all responsible for sharing and handing on our faith. Saint John Paull II believed that the more we undertake the practice of catechesis, the more the Church "finds in catechesis a strengthening of her internal life as a community of believers and of her external activity as a missionary Church" (Catechesi Tradendae 15). We have a number of ways that we can strengthen our parish through catechesis listed below - please consider reading more and finding a way that you can serve!
RCIA SPONSORS
RCIA is all about relationships: with God, with the Church, and within a particular community. RCIA Sponsors act as companions along this journey, helping a catechumen or candidate to develop his or her relationship with Christ and acting as a bridge toward deeper belonging in our Saint Pius X family. Sponsors are not expected to have all the answers! Quite the contrary: sponsors learn and enhance their own faith through their experience in the RCIA process.

We are always in need of parishioners to serve as RCIA Sponsors! Click HERE or contact Ashley Logsdon ([email protected], 574-272-8462, ext. 122) to learn more about this fulfilling ministry of faith and support.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CATECHISTS & VOLUNTEERS
Saint Pius X Religious Education is a welcoming community committed to helping with the faith formation of our most treasured resource – our children. Although each parent is the primary educator of their children in matters of faith, RE volunteers provide an indispensable service to the children and their families by sharing their faith and giving their time to explain the teachings of the Catholic Church. As an additional benefit, catechists certainly deepen their own faith through the experience of teaching it to others.

Want to share a portion of your time with the children of SPX? Click HERE or contact Robby Kiley, Director of Religious Education ([email protected], 574-277-5760, ext. 117) to learn more about each of our RE programs and how you can help.
Renewing All Things in Christ… Through Sacrificial Giving
Saint Pius X Catholic School is on the front lines of the new evangelization. This is witnessed in our belief that each students’ growth in faith is the central purpose of our school. In an environment reflecting peace, mercy, justice, and love, children are challenged to achieve their highest potential. They are encouraged to live their faith in word and deed in their family, church, and community.

Saint Pius X is blessed to provide a quality, Catholic education to over 525 kindergarten-eighth grade students this year (plus over 120 preschoolers). Recognizing that a Catholic education is an investment for families, we were excited for the School Choice Scholarship Program expansion for the 2021-2022 school year! This allows for even more low and middle-income families to be eligible for scholarship (SGO) awards to help them afford the school of their choice - including Saint Pius X Catholic School!
YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY & RECEIVE A SIGNIFICANT TAX BREAK WITH YOUR SCHOLARSHIP DONATIONS
A donation to the SGO is a WIN-WIN for everyone.

Student Benefits: Students receive tuition assistance for the current school year, and become eligible for the Indiana School Choice Scholarship (voucher) each year through grade twelve ~ up to $5,900 each year until graduation. For a student receiving the SGO award upon entering kindergarten, this would amount to a gift of $70,800. All from just one donation to SGONEI.

Donor Benefits: Donations, of any size, by Indiana residents or businesses to SGONEI qualify for a 50% direct income tax credit (refund) against Indiana state income tax liability while retaining deductibility of the full donation on the federal income tax return.

2021-2022 school year: Students from 40 families are seeking $125,000 in SGO scholarships. (The demand vastly outweighs the available funds in the Saint Pius X SGO account).

An SGO gift ensures that students who are in most need receive a Christ-centered, Catholic education. Learn more HERE or contact Maureen Newsom, Business Manager ([email protected], 574-272-8462, ext. 118).

Maybe you were baptized in another Christian community but find yourself curious about Catholic practices. Perhaps you’ve been attending Mass with your spouse but you want to know what Catholics actually believe. Or, maybe you just never finished Confirmation prep classes as a teenager.

Wherever you are in your faith journey, we are here to accompany you as you explore becoming a member of the Catholic Church!

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) process offers a chance to consider your own faith journey in light of the community and resources the Catholic Church offers. Led by our priests, group meetings explore Catholic teachings, rituals, morality, and prayer in a welcoming, supportive atmosphere.

Please join us for our first discussion of Pope Francis’ apostolic exhortation Amoris Laetitia (“The Joy of Love”). Our first meeting is on the theme “Scripture & Spirituality of Family” and will focus on the Introduction, Chapter 1, and Chapter 9. The full text of the document is available as a free .pdf download on the Vatican’s website or can be purchased at major retailers. Although it is helpful to read the chapters in advance, please give us a try even if you’re unable to read ahead - you’ll still be able to learn from and share in the conversation. Unable to join us, but still want to read along?

Visit StPius.net/Fall-Book-Study for a link, as well as a weekly outline, discussion questions, and prayer prompts for each session.
