As our focus this year on "renewal" continues, Dan Florin, parishioner and interim CEO for Catholic Charities of Fort Wayne-South Bend talks about the Catholic Social Teaching principles of Rights and Responsibilities.
Renewing Hope through...
The Saint Pius X
Refugee Resettlement Program
in partnership with Catholic Charities
of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend (ccfwsb.org)
After the sudden evacuation of U.S. military troops in Afghanistan, many families were forced to flee with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. They need humanitarian support while starting afresh. Evacuees are currently stationed at safe haven camps until they can be resettled between now and March.

Catholic Charities has committed to resettling at least 30 Afghan individuals (the national resettlement program prioritizes family reunification) and our parish is planning to help!

SPX expects to welcome a large family to our community next week! Knowing the generosity of our parish, we feel confident that we will be able to meet the needs of this effort. In order to make the project manageable, we have broken it down into specific tasks that are required at various stages of the six month process.

Renewing Hope for Refugees through Service
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are being called into action now!

There are several opportunities to share your time and talent, especially during the first few weeks and months after arrival as the refugee family becomes settled and self-sufficient. Visit StPius.net/RefugeeSettlement to learn more about volunteer opportunities and to access a questionnaire to sign up to serve.
Renewing Hope for Refugees through Sacrificial Giving
Donate Material Goods
In accordance with the federal government, Catholic Charities must provide specific items for each household. Saint Pius X is hosting a material goods drive to collect these necessary items.  There are a few new or gently used furniture items needed, plus Amazon gift cards of any size. at SPX!
Due to various circumstances, including the higher risk nature of these events amidst the current surge of COVID cases in our community, we have decided to cancel this weekend's Christmas Concert and next weekend’s Euchre Night.

We do have good news about the Christmas Concert! Jeremy and the AV team have created a Virtual Christmas Concert that will stream at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 9, on the parish website (StPius.net) and Facebook page @StPiusGranger.

Thank you for your understanding. We are hopeful that we will be able to bring back these wonderful events next year.
