SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY— The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) alerts the public that the emergency project continues on State Route 18 (SR-18) in the San Bernardino Mountains. Weather permitting.

Contractors will focus their efforts on installing anchors for the new Net Drapery System installation and conducting repairs to the retaining wall from Monday, August 4 through Friday, August 8, 2025. The project location is on State Route 18 in the “Narrows” from SR-138/SR-18 connector to Crest Forest Drive. Crews will be conducting a FULL CLOSURE of this section from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 



This work is all part of an emergency project to make this section of State Route 18 safer for travelers from potential rockslides. Work will initially occur to clear oversized rocks, remove and replace wire mesh, tree maintenance, and to build a concrete wall for slope stabilization.
