CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES -
Week of February 14, 2022
In observance of Presidents' Day there will be no closures scheduled from
6:00 a.m. Friday, February 18 through 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 22.
EB SR 210 TEMPORARY CROSSOVER LANE
A temporary lane configuration is in effect on EB SR 210, between Base Line and San Bernardino Avenue. This temporary traffic pattern shifted traffic on eastbound SR 210 to the other side of the center median for 2.5 miles, allowing crews to begin pavement rehabilitation activities on the existing EB roadway. This configuration will be in place for approximately five months.

As shown in the diagram below:

  • Drivers in the crossover lane (also known as the #1 lane), will not be able to exit at 5th Street/Greenspot Road or San Bernardino Avenue.

  • Drivers in the #2 lane will still be able to access both 5th Street/Greenspot Road and San Bernardino Avenue exits.

Access to San Bernardino Avenue on the westbound SR 210 has been restored for motorists coming from the eastbound I-10 connector. There will be no changes to the traffic pattern on WB SR 210 between Base Line and San Bernardino Avenue while the crossover lane is in place.

NEIGHBORING PROJECTS
The I-10/Alabama Street Interchange project will reduce congestion, improve safety, and improve traffic operations along Alabama Street between Orange Tree Lane to Industrial Park Avenue in the City of Redlands. The project will widen the eastbound and westbound I-10 off-ramps at the I-10/Alabama Street Interchange. During construction activities may include digging up roads for utility work, pavement and restriping work, placement of new traffic signals, traffic shifts, intermittent lane closures, and ramp closures. Workers and heavy equipment will be present throughout the project corridor and we ask that you allow for extra time to reach your destination as you may experience delays.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The SR 210 Lane Addition and Base Line Interchange Project is designed to provide increased traffic flow throughout this corridor. To eliminate the existing bottleneck and provide lane continuity, the SR 210 will be widened from Sterling Avenue to San Bernardino Avenue in the cities of San Bernardino, Highland, and Redlands, as well as an unincorporated portion of San Bernardino County. Base Line Interchange will also be widened from Buckeye Street to Seine Avenue in the City of Highland, which will include widening three of the four interchange ramps. As the SR 210 Lane Addition and Base Line Interchange projects aligned geographically and shared similar delivery schedules, they were combined for the design, right-of-way, and construction phases to save cost and expedite the schedule. In addition, pavement rehabilitation work was added through a cooperative agreement with Caltrans that includes new concrete pavement between 5th Street and Lugonia Avenue. Adding the pavement rehabilitation work during the Lane Addition and Base Line Interchange projects means one less project that the community will have to navigate around in the future.

Please remember construction is dynamic and the schedule is subject to change.
