CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES -
Week of October 11, 2021
LOOK AHEAD
On Monday, October 11 and Tuesday, October 12 crews will perform a traffic switch on EB and WB SR 210 between SR 330 and 5th Street/Greenspot Road and between Pioneer Avenue and the I-10 connectors.

The switch is necessary to move traffic to the newly paved concrete lanes in the center median which will allow crews to begin work on the shoulders of the freeway. Please be advised that your commute through this part of the corridor may look different on Tuesday morning. Always use caution when driving through construction zones.
BRIDGE WORK
The week of October 11, crews will continue work on the retaining walls along the EB SR 210 Base Line on-ramp, perform concrete pours on SR 210 at 5th Street, as well as slope paving work at Victoria Avenue and Pioneer Avenue, and continue constructing temporary bridge supports, also known as falsework, at Highland Avenue and Arden Avenue. The following nighttime closures of EB and WB SR 210 are needed to facilitate this work:

EB SR 210 Closed at Del Rosa Avenue - Closed nightly from 11:59 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Monday, October 11 through Thursday, October 14 (into Friday morning).

DETOUR: Exit WB SR 210 at Highland Avenue and turn left at the end of the ramp, turn right on Arden Avenue, left on Lynwood Drive, and left on Del Rosa Avenue to reenter WB SR 210 via the on-ramp.

WB SR 210 Closed at Highland Avenue - Closed nightly from 11:59 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Monday, October 11 through Thursday, October 14 (into Friday morning).

DETOUR: Exit WB SR 210 at Highland Avenue and turn left at the end of the ramp, turn right on Arden Avenue, left on Lynwood Drive, and left on Del Rosa Avenue to reenter WB SR 210 via the on-ramp.
Bridge widening activities are underway during daytime and nighttime shifts, at numerous locations throughout the project area, including 5th Street, Pioneer Avenue, Victoria Avenue, Base Line Interchange, and Highland Avenue. Visit the Google map above (project Google map) for the most up-to-date closures scheduled and available detour routes.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
The SR 210 Lane Addition and Base Line Interchange Project is designed to provide increased traffic flow throughout this corridor. To eliminate the existing bottleneck and provide lane continuity, the SR 210 will be widened from Sterling Avenue to San Bernardino Avenue in the cities of San Bernardino, Highland, and Redlands, as well as an unincorporated portion of San Bernardino County. Base Line Interchange will also be widened from Buckeye Street to Seine Avenue in the City of Highland, which will include widening three of the four interchange ramps. As the SR 210 Lane Addition and Base Line Interchange projects aligned geographically and shared similar delivery schedules, they were combined for the design, right-of-way, and construction phases to save cost and expedite the schedule. In addition, pavement rehabilitation work was added through a cooperative agreement with Caltrans that includes new concrete pavement between 5th Street and Lugonia Avenue. Adding the pavement rehabilitation work during the Lane Addition and Base Line Interchange projects means one less project that the community will have to navigate around in the future.

Please remember construction is dynamic and the schedule is subject to change.
Walking on the freeway is unsafe. In case of an emergency, please dial 9-1-1. For non-emergency Freeway Service Patrol (FSP) services, call the California Highway Patrol (CHP) at (909) 428-5400 or use the nearest Call Box for assistance. Drivers or passengers of a disabled vehicle stopped on a freeway may walk to the nearest exit, in either direction, on the same side of the freeway upon which the vehicle is disabled, or to the nearest Call Box for assistance. For the safety of the public and our crews, unapproved access to construction sites and property related to project construction is prohibited.
