Update from
San Rafael City Schools and the San Rafael Teachers Association
Regarding Negotiations

San Rafael City Schools (SRCS) and the San Rafael Teachers Association (SRTA) are pleased to share they have reached a mutually-agreeable fair and fiscally responsible agreement. SRTA represents the District's certificated staff in its elementary and middle schools. This agreement concludes SRCS and SRTA's negotiations for the 2018-2019 school year. This agreement was ratified by SRTA members on Jan. 15 and approved by the SRCS Board of Education on Jan. 28.

The most significant factor of the agreement is an across the board 4% ongoing increase on the base salary retroactive to July 1, 2018. The agreement also includes updates to standardize release days, as well as other minor updates to the language and terms throughout the agreement.

SRCS deeply values and respects all our teachers. Their invaluable contributions to our District community lift student achievement for every student, every day. We're pleased that both bargaining teams reached an agreement that has been ratified and approved and we look forward to implementation.

"We are thrilled we have reached a settlement with SRTA," said SRCS Superintendent Michael Watenpaugh, Ed.D. "Our K-8 teachers are on the frontlines every single day, doing our most important work. We are fortunate and grateful to have such committed and talented teachers who are helping our students thrive and realize their full potential."
