NCSU Releases Updated Fact Sheet on Hand-Applied Herbicides
Accomplishing forest stewardship requires many tools. Hand-applied herbicides are effective tools that selectively control vegetation in a variety of circumstances. NCSU Extension Forestry recently updated Accomplishing Forest Stewardship with Hand-Applied Herbicides , a publication that reviews the most efficient and cost effective methods and formulations to conduct forest resource management on your land. download it here

UK Forestry Extension Offers 2018 Woodland Owners Short Course
The University of Kentucky will be offering its annual Woodland Owners Short Course July 28, August 4, and August 18 for east, west, and central Kentucky, respectively. The Short Course is designed to assist Kentucky’s woodland owners in the care and management of their woodland resource. see short course details .

Southern Regional Forester Dr. Bill Hubbard and SREF Extension Associate Leslie Boby traveled to Richmond Virginia this week to attend the Southern Group of State Forester's 2018 Annual Meeting. The meeting was successful mix of presentations, discussions, and networking that brought together forestry and natural resources professionals from around the South. Request for Applications Posted for RREA National Focus Funds
$300,000 is available in 2018 to 1862 Land-Grant Institutions and 1890 Land-Grant Institutions to provide funds for pilot projects that: (1) Address emerging forest and rangeland resource issues, (2) Have national or regional relevancy, or (3) Develop new and innovative projects that can be replicated at other institutions . AFRI Foundational and Applied Science Program Grant Available
Approximately $182 million is available in funding from NIFA's Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI), which is America’s flagship competitive grants program that provides funding for fundamental and applied research, education, and extension projects in the food and agricultural sciences. read more .
