Your tax-deductible donations of “gently used” books are always welcome and can be brought to the library’s circulation desk. Or, a staff member or volunteer can assist in transferring your boxes or bags of books into the library. At this time we are especially seeking donations of fiction and nonfiction for adults.  What an easy way to support our library!

Book Recommendations

Kelly Verheyden, Supervising Librarian, Central Library recommends: "Black Sheep" by Rachel Harrison.

"Vesper Wright is a twenty-something with a jaded world view living a mediocre life in a large city. She grew up in a staunchly religious community (some would say a cult), but left when she was 18 and has never looked back."

To read Kelly's full review, check out the May 19, 2024 issue of the The San Diego Union-Tribune.

Check out the book here:

“Black Sheep,” by Rachel Harrison

Check out these read-alikes:

“Horrorstör,” by Grady Hendrix

“Burning Girls,” by C. J. Tudor

“The Nightmare Man,” by James Markert

Recommended Reads is an ongoing partnership with The San Diego Union-Tribune. Every other week, Behind the Desk goes in-depth on the books they recommend. Read the Sunday Paper to see their most recent reviews or view the past archive on the SDPL website.
