Computer Science Conference-Let’s Integrate!
October 2, 2019

The Computer Science Conference offers the opportunity to connect with and learn from some of New Jersey's innovative educators that are creatively integrating computer science into their curriculum. This full day event will include workshops designed to help K-8 regular education teachers integrate computer science in their classrooms.

Phonics First® An Accredited Orton-Gillingham Program-Four Day Program
October 28 & 29 and December 9 & 10, 2019

This comprehensive and highly intensive course provides teachers with the necessary strategies and tools to deliver high-quality Phonics First® lessons. Course content includes: alphabet and phonemic awareness strategies, the three-part drill for structured review, tactile/kinesthetic spelling techniques for phonetic and non-phonetic words, syllabication for multisyllable words and guidance for lesson plans and classroom implementation.

Classroom Management
September 25, 2019

In this exciting and informative workshop participants will address classroom and behavior management issues, and learn specific strategies to use to increase teacher effectiveness. After the workshop participants will be able to go back to the district with tools to implement in their classrooms the very next day.

Participants will learn principles of behavior management, establishment of rules and procedures, strategies for difficult students and much more.

Making the Mentoring Process More Meaningful
September 18, 2019

Effective May 2014, the NJ Teacher-Mentoring Regulations 
have been amended to better align with the TEACHNJ Act, and specifies that mentors need training prior to working with novice teachers and guiding experienced teachers that are new to the district. 

In this workshop, mentors will explore the mentoring process and understand the requirements for working with novice teachers.

MakerSpace Monday
Fall 2019

Bring your imagination and creativity! In these exciting and interactive workshops, participants will have the opportunity to discover how schools are integrating “making” into their classrooms and libraries. Participants will have the opportunity to make, design, program and play while exploring the elements that comprise a makerspace. Participants will also learn how to foster innovation and creativity in all curricula, from STEM to the arts to humanities (SHTEAM).

Youth Mental Health First Aid
October 16 & 17, 2019

Youth Mental Health First Aid is an education program which introduces participants to the unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents, builds understanding of the importance of early intervention, and teaches individuals how to help an adolescent in crisis or experiencing a mental health challenge.
Mental Health First Aid uses role-playing and simulations to demonstrate how to assess a mental health crisis; select interventions and provide initial help; and connect young people to professional, peer, social, and self-help care.
