Structuring Your I&RS Team for a Successful Year · Hybrid Delivery

July 22, 2025 · 9 am to 12 pm

An I&RS team provides the school with an institutionalized mechanism and comprehensive strategy for enabling staff and families or caregivers to collaborate systematically over time. This collaboration requires careful planning and maintenance to become an integral and valued part of the educational system. A strong I&RS team is necessary for an I&RS system to work effectively in a school.

This session will define the characteristics of an effective team while providing administrators with recommendations for team composition. Team member roles and responsibilities will be clarified. In addition, this session will identify the support needed for I&RS team operations from the board of education, central office administrators, building administrators, and school staff. Participants will learn the best practices for collaborative decision-making. The relationship of I&RS teams to other building-based groups will be explored. Finally, participants will explore appropriate models for I&RS functions.

Please note: This workshop is being offered as a Hybrid Course with in-person and Live via Zoom registration options. When registering for this course please select the option that best suits the needs of your district.

The Science of Reading Series · Fall 2025

Presented by the SRI&ETTC at Stockton University

The Science of Reading for Elementary Teachers (Grades Pk-3) · Hybrid Delivery

September 23, 2025

The science of reading is a vast, interdisciplinary body of scientifically-based research about reading and issues related to reading and writing. This research has been conducted over the last five decades across the world and is derived from thousands of studies conducted in multiple languages. The science of reading has culminated in a preponderance of evidence to inform how proficient reading and writing develop; why some have difficulty; and how we can most effectively assess and teach and, therefore, improve student outcomes through prevention of and intervention for reading difficulties. This session will provide participants with strategies to shift practices to those that align with the research in order to improve student outcomes.

The Science of Reading Grade Specific Sessions:

The Science of Reading for Kindergarten Teachers · September 25, 2025

The Science of Reading for First Grade Teachers · September 30, 2025

The Science of Reading for Second Grade Teachers · October 1, 2025

The Science of Reading for Third Grade Teachers · October 2, 2025

The Science of Reading (SOR) is a prominent and essential topic in education, but it can feel overwhelming with so much information available. These grade specific workshops are designed to demystify SOR and provide practical strategies for applying its principles in the classroom. Participants will explore the latest research, see real-life classroom examples, and gain hands-on tools to effectively implement SOR practices that support young learners' literacy development.

The Science of Reading for Secondary Teachers (Grades 4-12) · Hybrid Delivery

October 9, 2025

For educators of middle and high school students, there's no denying the importance of reading for student success. As a result, it's only right to make sure that education programs are based on the most up-to-date science of reading principles. What works for an elementary student will not necessarily work for those slightly older - and specific adjustments may be needed. This workshop aims to examine the "do's and don'ts" when teaching reading to students in grades 4-12 within the context of scientific research by reviewing positive behaviors (what you should do).

Please note: The Science of Reading workshops are being offered as hybrid sessions, there is an in-person registration option and an online registration option. The in-person sessions will take place at the SRI&ETTC in Galloway, NJ, the online option will take place live via Zoom. Please register for the delivery method that works best for your district. If you have any questions please contact the SRI&ETTC at 609-626-3867 for information.

THE SEI ONLNE

A Free 15-Hour Course on Sheltered English Instruction

Developed by the SRI&ETTC Funded by the NJ Department of Education

Educating students who still are acquiring English proficiency can be complex in an age of high stakes evaluations and assessments as well as college and career-ready standards. English language learners (ELLs) are not monolithic in their educational background, cultural experiences, and ability to adapt to learning environments. However, through well-planned instruction, ELLs can attain challenging academic standards.
