SENIORS
Sending SAT/ACT Scores to colleges...
- Check each school's website to learn if you need to send official ACT/SAT scores at the time you apply. Some may say that you just need to self-report and others will require you to send them officially from the ACT or SAT (College Board) websites.
- UC: Send official ACT and/or SAT scores to ONE campus and every campus will have access to view them. (this saves you lots of $$)
- CSU: Send official SAT scores to the code "3594" for distribution to all 23 campuses. For ACT, send the score(s) to one CSU campus and they will all be able to receive them.
- All other schools...check their websites and follow their instructions! Meet all deadlines for receiving scores.
JUNIORS & SOPHMORES
10th and 11th graders: Did you take the PSAT in October? PSAT scores are due to be released on Dec. 12. If you provided an email on PSAT test day, you will receive an email with instructions on how to set up a College Board account and view your scores. (hint: you can set up the CB account now, and link it to your scores, when you they are posted). See school loop for some helpful hints!

Starting early this morning, our students, and very dedicated parents, helped to check-in, guide, and give directions to 160 students (representing 16 different high schools). Congratulations to the following students who were selected to represent our school:
- Amelia Danko, Bassoon
- Dom Dalenberg, String Bass
- Andrew Hanze, Trombone
- Ashley Jackson, Bassoon
- Roger Jia, Oboe & English Horn
- Evan Lacey, Trumpet (& Euphonium)

"Thirty percent of freshmen [college students] won't return for their sophomore year," reports a piece in The New York Times. For many, the leave-taking represents an inability to cope with college life and independence, write William Stixrud and Ned Johnson, the authors of "The Self-Driven Child: The Science and Sense of Giving Your Kids More Control Over Their Lives".
Here's a brief article from award-winning author and former Stanford Dean of Freshmen Julie Lythcott-Haims that provides four simple steps for us, as parents, to facilitate raising adults:
"After hundreds of talks with parents around the world, here's what I've come to. We parents are the lucky humans given the humbling task of raising a child. We're supposed to be alongside them, guiding them, giving them more and more room to try, learn, grow, persevere, achieve. But, these days, we can tend to get in the way, by micromanaging our kid's path or by outright dragging them down it. We think we know what we're doing-but we end up depriving them of developing self-efficacy. And that leads to anxiety and depression. So. We have to get our act together. We have to get out of our kid's way so they can develop the skills and smarts they'll need in order to thrive as adults."

GRAD NIGHT TICKETS
Hey Senior Wolves -- don't forget to purchase your Grad Night ticket. Many of your friends have already done so and they've taken advantage of the lower price. Tickets to this amazing all-night event, that is just for you, will increase to $200 in January, so
use this link and get your paws on your ticket! Please contact Charlyene Swierstra at
[email protected] if you have questions about tickets.
GRAD NIGHT BUILD SITE
Our PTSA Grad Night 2019 Committee is searching for a warehouse/office space/build site. Ideally, the space would be 5000-8000 sq ft, and have electricity and plumbing. We will need access to this build site from January/February - May 31st, 2019. This donation would likely qualify as a write-off because PTSA is a 501(c)3 non-profit. If you have any suggestions that we can follow up with, please contact Carrie Shapiro at
[email protected].
Planning for Grad Night 2019 is well underway, and we are having a great time so far! We need a few more enthusiastic SRV class of 2019 parents because... if we all do a little, no one does a lot. We are organized, communicative, we all get along beautifully, and we have yummy snacks at our meetings. Come join us!

SMALLER JOBS
If you would like to help, but are not interested in taking a leadership role, that's cool too. There are several smaller jobs that support committee chairs which also need to be filled. Do it for our awesome SENIORS who have worked so hard and deserve this celebration!
