PTSA Sister School News & Donation Drives

Sister School "Halloween Day"
We had another amazing Halloween day with the students at Peres. Our visiting Wolves were engaged in playing and talking with their little superheroes, mermaids, dinosaurs, and Disney characters. We cheered them on at their neighborhood parade and said goodbye with lots of hugs. Thank you again for the incredibly generous costume donations. The staff expressed their deepest gratitude, knowing that many of their students otherwise would not have had one to wear this year..

Sister School "College Day"

"COLLEGE DAY" is our next event coming up quickly. We need 12 Juniors/Seniors and 3 adult drivers to sign up to spend the morning at Peres talking to their upper graders about preparing for college. The kids love to hear from us! You will be provided with a script and will speak in front of 4th-7th grade classes about good study habits, preparing for the SAT/ACT, finding what you love in life, etc. And of course we will play with the kids at recess! Make sure you don't have any tests that day, and sign up !

Friday November 16th
8:45am - 12:45pm.
Bring your lunch
Only sign yourself up on this Sign Up Genius - No signing up for friends.

  • November 30 - "Press Pass" Media Symposium for Hign School Students! This Event will be held at Las Positas College on Nov. 30 - Register by Nov. 16.  This symposium is perfect for students who are interested in media - especially those already participating in student media. Pick the brain of professionals currently in the industry, learn some basics of modern journalism and be exposed to the tricks of the trade. Rub shoulders with aspiring media members from other schools and build relationships with potential future colleagues.  Details on School Loop. See this website to learn more and to register:

  • Be sure to view the SchoolLoop portal for more details on these announcements and more.  We post to the SchoolLoop portal daily and update timely information as we receive it.

  • CSU (California State University) Application is OPEN. Students should take time to verify their entries, before submitting to intended campuses by Nov. 30th. The Cal State Apply helpline number is: 857.304.2087.  We recommend you contact Cal State Apply OR the college you are applying to, if you have questions before submitting.  Cal State Apply website:
  • On Nov. 14th, we will have a UC Rep available to answer questions.  Sign up on Naviance.
  • Sending SAT/ACT Scores to colleges-UC and CSU: Check each school's website to learn if you need to send official ACT/SAT scores at the time you apply.  Some may say that you just need to self-report and others will require you to send them officially from the ACT or SAT (College Board) websites.
  • UC:  Send official ACT and/or SAT scores to ONE campus and every campus will have access to view them.  (this saves you lots of $$)
  • CSU:  Send official SAT scores to the code "3594" for distribution to all 23 campuses. For ACT, send the score(s) to one CSU campus and they will all be able to receive them.
  • All other schools...check their websites and follow their instructions!  meet all deadlines for receiving scores.
  • Caveat:  ALWAYS verify in the school's portal that they give you after you apply, that your scores were actually received by each campus.  There can be issues....(missing scores) and it is up to YOU the student to ensure that all campuses (UC, CSU and all others who require them) receive them!

See our web page at  for details on financial aid for college. Learn about the FAFSA, CSS Profile, and more. Be sure to look for scholarships on each college's page, plus on the Naviance scholarship page!

Our job and volunteer boards are growing rapidly!  We have postings for lifeguards, restaurant workers, grocery stores, local retail, voting support and more.  Students stop by and view the postings near the Attendance office.

We are starting to receive information on summer programs through private companies and through colleges.  As we receive the brochures, we put them in a basket on the front table in our center. Stop by to peruse this basket for a selection as the year goes on!  There are MANY, MANY options for students....and hopefully they will find something that interests them, and challenges them to grow!

PTSA Grad Night 2019

Committee Chairs:
Laura Morrison
Deborah Rockey
Charlyene Swierstra

Hey Senior Wolves! Now that we are into the swing of things, don't forget to purchase your Grad Night ticket. Many of your friends have already done so and they've taken advantage of the lower price. Tickets to this amazing all-night event, that is just for you, will increase to $200 in January, so  use this link and get your paws on your ticket! Please contact Charlyene Swierstra at if you have questions about tickets.

Our PTSA Grad Night 2019 Committee is searching for a warehouse/office space/build site. Ideally, the space would be 5000-8000 sq ft, and have electricity and plumbing. We will need access to this build site from January/February - May 31st, 2019. This donation would likely qualify as a write-off because PTSA is a 501(c)3 non-profit. If you have any suggestions that we can follow up with, please contact Carrie Shapiro at

Planning for Grad Night 2019 is well underway, and we are having a great time so far! We need a few more enthusiastic SRV class of 2019 parents because... if we all do a little, no one does a lot. We are organized, communicative, we all get along beautifully, and we have yummy snacks at our meetings. Come join us!

Check out the  Sign Up Genius and  Grad Night Committee Job Descriptions to peruse the many ways you can help make this night happen.

If you would like to help, but are not interested in taking a leadership role, that's cool too. There are several smaller jobs that support committee chairs which also need to be filled. Do it for our awesome SENIORS who have worked so hard and deserve this celebration!

For questions, please email us at We will respond within one day.

Thank you and GO WOLVES!
