Help Us Save America's Flagship!

America's Cover Girl  Sea History , the quarterly magazine of the National Maritime Historical Society, features the SS United States on its current cover. Maritime artist Bob Semler's gorgeous painting of the ship, entitled "Diamond Jubilee," accompanies a story featuring the Conservancy's efforts and an in-depth profile of a longtime Conservancy supporter: former SS United States engineer and author Bob Sturm. New Limited Edition Sweatshirts Available Now!  The Conservancy is now offering new, limited-edition, ultimate, heavyweight sweatshirts, perfect for fall weather, featuring a new design by talented graphic artist Greg Shutters . These stylish sweatshirts commemorate a dramatic voyage planned for the SS United States that sadly never took place. The ship was to depart on a 55-day "Grand Pacific Cruise" in 1970 and would have called on New Zealand, Australia, Japan and Hong Kong, among other ports-of-call. Alas, the trip was canceled when the ship was withdrawn from service in 1969. Fortunately, the Big U's Grand Pacific Spirit lives on! Campaign Update The WE ARE THE UNITED STATES campaign is proud to have raised over $300,000 to keep the SS United States safely afloat and continue our work to secure a permanent location for her. But our work is not yet done-- saving the nation’s sole remaining ocean liner is a unique, challenging project. For this crucial phase of the campaign, we’ve revamped our GoFundMe page as we continue to advance plans for the Big U’s revitalization, including the Conservancy’s museum and Center for Design and Discovery.
