CONSERVANCY'S DAZZLING NEW WEBSITE UNVEILED

  SSUSC Website

While most of the excitement on February 1 of this month centered on the SS United States Conservancy's purchase of the SS United States,  the day was also momentous because the Conservancy unveiled its gorgeous new website!

The site was completely redesigned by the extraordinarily talented Greg Shutters and beautifully showcases the ship's history and future potential.  We are continuing to refine the site and add new features and content, and we always welcome feedback and suggestinos from our members and supporters.  The Conservancy is profoundly grateful to Greg Shutters for his committment to the cause.  THANK YOU, GREG!

If you have not visited the site recently, we encourage you to take a look!

STORY OF SS UNITED STATES HITS THE PHILLY AIRWAVES AND TRAVELS TO THE MIDWEST

The story of the SS United States and the Conservancy's efforts to save the national treasure continues to spread throughout the nation.

Last week, the SS United States Conservancy was featured on one of National Public Radio's Philadelphia-region affiliates, 90.9 WRTI.  Host Tom Keels interviewed Gerry Lenfest, Conservancy board member Steven Ujifusa, and Conservancy president Susan Gibbs for the feature show, Creatively Speaking, WRTI's award-winning weekly look into the world of arts and culture.

In another press hit, Jim Palmer, blogger for Milwaukee Magazine's online presence, InsideMilwaukee.com, posted this great piece about the SS United States. Palmer visited the Big U as a young boy in 1957.

The 10-year old boy was trembling; his heart was racing. He'd dreamed of this most of his young life, and now that the moment had arrived, he was frozen with anticipation. He stood in awe, gazing at the massive ship looming before him. His Dad had surprised him with a road trip to Manhattan, to Pier 86 along the Hudson River, specifically to visit this modern wonder.

He looked up. The ship was stunning. Her lines were sleek, almost seductive, despite her size. But she was indeed huge, more than 100 feet longer than the Titanic. And there she was, right in front of him, beckoning.
