While we wish we could fire up the engines, pull up the gangways, and set sail together aboard America’s Flagship, the SS United States Conservancy and the Pollin Group have partnered to offer the next best thing: A special voyage aboard a modern cruise ship. This unique cruise will include  SS United States-themed events and  opportunities to meet others who share a passion for the grand era of transatlantic liners, maritime history, and the nation's iconic flagship.

This special seven-night cruise will sail in May, 2018 to Bermuda aboard the Celebrity Summit . The cruise will depart from Cape Liberty in Bayonne, New Jersey, on Sunday, May 6 and will make port at King’s Wharf, Bermuda on May 9 for a three-night stay. The ship will return to New Jersey on Sunday, May 13.

The cruise will include talks spotlighting the SS United States’ history, design and celebrity passengers, mid-century art and design, and the transatlantic race for the fabled Blue Riband. It will also feature:

• Festive social gatherings celebrating the music, dance and fashion of the transatlantic liner era;

• Riveting talks on design, innovation and “the way things work” by award-winning author and illustrator David Macaulay;

• A special presentation by Susan Gibbs, Conservancy executive director and granddaughter of the SS United States’ designer, William Francis Gibbs.

Recipient of Conservancy's Blue Riband Award  Announced

The SS United States Conservancy is pleased to announce that Casper van Hooren has been presented with the Conservancy's Blue Riband Award. Casper has provided invaluable counsel to the Conservancy as the former owner and developer of the famed Dutch steamship, the SS Rotterdam. Casper oversaw the ship's initial conversion into a successful stationary mixed-use attraction in The Netherlands, where today it is a thriving hotel, meeting venue, and tourist destination. Read more about the award and Casper's accomplishments HERE.
