Grounds for Sculpture

We had a beautiful, sunny day for our trip to Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ, May 1st. Strolling through the 42 acre sculpture park and museum, we stepped into paintings-become-sculptures by the likes of Monet and Manet and looked over Vincent Van Gogh’s shoulder as he painted outside the cafe that bears his name. Modern pieces interspersed with classics were often tucked away in greenery or framed by a beautiful lake.

Thank you to Swarthmore Presbyterian Church and our generous volunteer driver, Gordon Kinsey, for the loan of the church van that made our trip possible.

Pendle Hill Chorus

Spring Concert

Does the message of Anthem stir something in you? Does Bridge Over Troubled Water instantly carry you back to another time? The Pendle Hill Chorus warmly invites you to its spring concert on Wednesday, May 13, at 8:00 p.m. at the Swarthmore Friends Meeting House.

Directed for more than 30 years by the gifted and imaginative Jackie Coren, the Chorus will perform a vibrant and moving program ranging from madrigals to contemporary songs celebrating peace, resilience, and community. Fresh arrangements of music by Leonard Cohen and Simon & Garfunkel will be offered alongside other works that inspire reflection and joy. The concert will end with a community sing.

Known for performances that are both uplifting and fun, the Pendle Hill Chorus is a welcoming, no-audition community chorus presenting concerts twice each year. Come enjoy an evening of beautiful music — and consider joining the chorus this fall.
