Summer of the 250th Celebration

America 250 in DELCO!

Sharing the Spirit of America: Reading of the Declaration of Independence

America250PADelco is the local, non-partisan initiative to engage all Delaware County residents in America's 250th anniversary. One upcoming event occurs on July 8th!

The Declaration of Independence was first read in public on July 8, 1776. In commemoration, on July 8, 2026, on the steps of Media Courthouse, the Delaware County Bar Association and America 250 Delco Commission will join with communities across America in a simultaneous reading of this famous document.

Community leaders will read individual segments as we join the thousands who will read as well. A 5:30 start time will allow visitors to enjoy the 'Forging Freedom' banner installation, sign their own copy of the Declaration, and join in the Pledge of Allegiance. This event will be OUTSIDE.

Check event details HERE.

Help with Rides

Can you offer an occasional ride to our members?

Stephanie McDonough, SSCA Administrator, works hard to match those needing rides with those who can provide them. Whether you need a ride or can offer one (or both!), you can reach Stephanie at (484) 437-8272. If you can offer rides, you can let her know your general availability. If you need a ride, please allow at least a few days in advance for the best possibility of a successful match with a driver.

Looking for more?

The SSCA offers a number of programs and other ways to get involved. Please email SwarthmoreSeniors@gmail.com to indicate your interests.
