SSCC BUSINESS FORUM - 31 MAY 2022
The Energy Transition to New Sustainable Sources

The 9th SSCC Business Forum took place on 31 May 2022 in Zurich, this year focusing on the energy transition as it has entered a period of unprecedented change. We are seeing a surge in energy prices due to factors such as the pandemic, increased electricity demand, supply issues and inflation. The current conflict in Ukraine further disrupts the global energy markets. We were very pleased to welcome prominent speakers from Swedish and Swiss industries and organisations.
Head of Economics & Next Generation Research, Norbert Rücker from Bank Julius Bär opened the discussions with a global perspective of the energy markets and the developments of the electricity and gas markets for the last years. He also looked at the projections of electrification which took off in 2020 and accelerating in 2025 with Europe and China in the lead. Luca Baroni, CFO of the Alpiq Group took us through the European energy markets as well as the Swiss energy market outlining the challenges and opportunities.
In the second part of the conference, our moderator Richella Odebrecht, Global Head of Communications & Marketing at ABB Process Automation animated a panel discussion on challenges and opportunities for the energy transition with Daniel Fitzgerald, Chief Operating Officer of Lundin Energy and Patrick Kutschera, Head of SwissEnergy at the Swiss Federal Office of Energy.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the speakers for making this event a very interesting and interactive discussion on the future of energy.
Finally, a special thanks to our sponsors Julius Bär, Volvo Car Switzerland and Switzerland Global Enterprise for supporting us and making this event possible.
