A NOTE FROM NATHAN
It’s hard to believe that it was March 15th that we last worshipped in person, in our sanctuary, at Sandy Springs Christian Church. Finally, after eight months of not being able to gather in our building, we will worship together in our sanctuary, this Sunday, November 1st, for those able to attend. If you have not already done so, please take a moment to watch our welcome back video about what to expect when you return to worship and review the safety covenant to which we all agree to adhere when we return. They are included below along with information about how to access the livestream from home.

In addition to returning to in-person worship, there are several upcoming special Sundays and programs over the next few weeks about which we want you to be aware.

1.     Next Sunday, November 8th, we will celebrate the 60th anniversary of SSCC. There will be several familiar faces and voices included in worship that day. We hope you will either attend in person or tune in from home for this very special occasion.

2.     On Saturday and Sunday, November 14-15, we will host our first Courageous Conversation event. The event will be virtual, via zoom on Saturday and Sunday. However, there is an in person component in the sanctuary, on Sunday, following worship, for those who would like to stay. Please save the dates now to participate in this timely event. There will be more information forthcoming in an eblast this week.

3.     Advent begins Sunday, November 29th. The staff and Worship, Arts and Education committee have been working over the last several weeks on how to make the Advent and Christmas seasons meaningful and safe this year. We are excited about our plans and look forward to sharing the details with you in the near future, which will include an outdoor Christmas Eve Service!

4.     Finally, if you have not already, please take a moment to review the stewardship materials and video that were sent out this last Monday. A great deal of time and energy went into the campaign this year. 2021 will be an unusual, but very important year of ministry together. Your commitments are more important than ever. Please fill out your estimate of giving forms and electronically submit by Sunday, November 22nd. We will bless and dedicate our commitments that Sunday in worship. If you would prefer a hard copy of the materials, please reach out to Amy in the church office.

I am very much looking forward to seeing many of you over the next several weeks, as we return to in person worship. We appreciate your patience as we live into this new normal. Obviously, we are continuing to livestream for those who will be worshipping with us from home. Thus, we will be experimenting with how to best do worship in this new hybrid model for the forseeable future. Thank you, in advance, for your flexibility and understanding.

Take care and have a great weekend!

Peace,
Nathan

This Sunday, November 1st we will celebrate All Saints' Sunday. This is our annual recognition of those members of our congregation who have died in the past year. We want to remember the deceased and the many ways in which they touched our lives.

KIDS HALLOWEEN SURPRISE
This Sunday after our worship service, our youth will have a surprise for our SSCC Kids in the back parking lot at the red door! Since we did not get to have a trunk or treat, we will have a Halloween goodie bag for the kids and other fun surprises!

All children are welcome to come down after the service, or we invite any children not going to the service to meet us there at 11:15. It won’t take long, just a chance to have some Halloween spirit together.

We will be practicing social distancing and please make sure to wear a mask! See you there!

60TH ANNIVERSARY SUNDAY
On Sunday, November 8th Rev. Dr. Nathan Brown will help us celebrate Sandy Springs Christian Church's 60th Anniversary. COURAGEOUS CONVERSATION WEEKEND
November 14 and 15, 2020
As you know, part of our visioning plan calls us to have a courageous conversation event, annually, over the next three years, to help us, as church, model for the world how to have conversation about difficult topics and remain one community. Dr. Allen Hilton, author of "A House United," will be leading us in the virtual endeavor.

The theme will be the task and benefits of INTERNAL Christian unity. We’ll talk a bit on Saturday about how that matters EXTERNALLY (A Unity Mission to the World). Sunday will move entirely toward getting better at loving one another across our differences. More information to come this week in an separate e-blast.
THANKSGIVING SUNDAY
On Sunday, November 22, 2020, we will observe our annual Thanksgiving Sunday. Let us come together and give thanks for the many blessings of this last year, despite the challenges we have faced!
