It will be different this year, I realize. The sanctuary will not be full. The baptistery will not be filled. The chancel steps will not be adorned with lillies. Because of our global crisis, Easter will not be the same. Instead, we will reflect throughout the week in more solitude. We will create new rituals to help us mark this sacred time. And we will gather together, virtually, to hear the good news once again, "He is risen!" Easter will be different. But it will not be any less true. Instead of lamenting how Easter will be lost this year, let's celebrate new ways in which Easter can be found!

Here are some ways you can discover this sacred time anew through the life of Sandy Springs Christian Church:

Daily Holy Week Devotionals
Each day this week, you are receiving a 6-10 minute devotional. Each devotional includes scripture, music, and a video reflection from someone at SSCC. Take a few moments out of each day to spend some time in prayer and reflection. Contributors include Leslie Lady, Teresa Bensch, Art Edwards, Kimbrell Teegarden, Bryant Gibson and Pastor Nathan.

Easter Sunrise Service - 7:00 AM
I will be live-streaming an Easter Sunrise Service at 7:00 AM on Easter morning. Weather permitting, I hope to be outside in God's creation during the service. We will share scripture, prayer and communion during this simple service. Join me outdoors at your home as we watch and listen for new life to bloom. CLICK HERE for the link to our YouTube Page .

Easter Worship - 10:15 AM
For Easter Worship, we are planning a service, similar to that of our Palm Sunday Service, which will include hymns, special music, liturgy, a message and communion. Once again, we hope to include different voices and faces in the worship experience. Invite your friends to join us online for a different kind of Easter Celebration! Easter Special Offering
Each year, Disciples congregations collect an Easter Special offering, the proceeds of which benefit the General Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). These ministries include new church ministry, the division of overseas ministries, higher education and leadership ministries, and the Council of Christian Unity, among others. If you would like to make an over and above gift to this special offering, simply make the notation on your donation for the "Easter Special Offering (Disciples of Christ)." Thank you, in advance, for your generosity during this time.
This Sunday, Nathan will livestream at 7:00 am from our YouTube channel, for our Easter Sunrise service. We will have a special Easter Worship Service via our YouTube channel at 10:15 am. Click Here to join us for both!

Easter Sunday
John 20:1-18
We have several opportunities for our children this Easter. We will have our Sunday School lesson about “The Empty Tomb” posted this Sunday on our YouTube channel. We will also have our first Worship and Wonder children’s worship which will be posted to the YouTube channel as well.

Katie and Bryant will have a children’s sermon during our worship service so make sure you tune in as a family! And don’t forget about the wonderful Holy Week Calendar that Mrs. Hannah made for everyone. We hope you’ve been following along each day.

Finally, after you’ve done your family egg hunt and need a moment of rest, let your kids check out these virtual egg hunts for some more fun. Click here!
We hope you are enjoying our video devotionals, each day, during Holy Week. They are a way for us to reflect on the final days of Jesus’ life. We want to thank Leslie Lady for creating the devotionals, along with Teresa Bensch, Bryant Gibson, Art Edwards, Kimbrell Teegarden, and Pastor Nathan for their contributions. We hope these daily devotionals help you have a meaningful Holy Week, as we prepare for Easter.
This Easter, we rejoice together as one Church, as the One Body of Christ. We rejoice in all that we accomplish together, and the work God accomplishes through us. Let us rejoice that the Easter offering, through Disciples Mission Fund, makes our denomination's ministries – and so much more – possible. Through the general ministries of our Church, lives are changed and our world is transformed. Will you rejoice with us and give to this special day offering? This Easter season, let us rejoice in all the ways our wider Church embodies the Spirit of Resurrection, through life-giving ministry.

If you wish to submit a gift, please clearly mark it "Easter Special Offering" or you can find more stories from our general ministries and give online at disciplesmissionfund.org .
Dear SSCC, I cannot thank you enough for the 40th birthday card and your personal well-wishes. They came at a time in my life that I needed them most. I am grateful for your kinds words and for the contributions you have made to SSCC in my honor. Thank you for your love and support of my family. It's an honor and privilege to be your Pastor. I cannot wait for the time that we are able to gather together again in person. Thank you again for making this milestone extra special.

In Gratitude, Nathan
Due to the fact that we are holding "virtual" church service, and are not able to submit prayer requests, please use the following emails and/or phone numbers to submit your requests:
Mary Shehan asks for prayers for her sister Peggy who lives in Phoenix, AZ. to find peace in her life.

Andrea Spohn requests prayers for the Kelly Berry Family.

Bunny Steinmetz asks for prayers for strength to get through the pandemic and for everyone to return to church.

Please pray for Rachel Robeck and members of the Marine Corps unit with which she serves. Their Battalion Commanding Officer, LT COL Hollopeter, died unexpectedly Friday, after being sick for just a few days. Please, also, pray for his wife and their 4 children. He was loved and highly respected by those who served with him, and this is a difficult time for them.

Barbara and Dirk Huttenbach lift up prayers of thanksgiving for their daughter Laura Lee who delivered a healthy baby boy last Sunday. The handsome Grant Patterson Sidford weighed 8 1/2 pounds.

We pray for our SSCC family members who serve as first responders and SSCC's own serving in the military: Jamie Price Smith, Rachel Robeck, Michelle Brown, Tyler Brown, Derrick Brown, Kevin Mooney, Jared Mills and Dalton Brown. (If we are missing someone, please let us know so that we can include their name in our weekly prayers).

You can join SSCC by a simple affirmation of faith anytime! If you want to join during this virtual time, just let Pastor Nathan know and we will make that happen. He can announce it during the livestream on Sunday morning! Simply e-mail Pastor Nathan  to let him know you would like to join!
