Faculty in the Spotlight

ASU's Graduate College appoints Professor Enrique Vivoni as the Associate Dean for Graduate Initiatives. Rosa Krajmalnik-Brown or “Dr. Rosy” is becoming increasingly well-known for her interest and expertise in gut-brain interactions.

Three ASU engineers are now setting the stage to deploy robotic mechanisms in what might be the toughest environment the technology will encounter: underground. Recent outbreaks of Legionnaires’ disease have led Assistant Professor Kerry Hamilton to help building owners and managers predict water-quality degradation sooner, and better maintain building water systems.

Klaus Lackner, the Director of the Center for Negative Carbon Emissions, has built a machine that pulls carbon from the air. Sub-Zero sustainability: An ASU research team’s energy-saving solution for frozen food storage could mean big costs savings.

Rolf Halden: Health scientists remain skeptical about the supposed benefits of eating organic foods. For some, recent research has raised their hopes. Klaus Lackner: Scientists warn devastation caused by extreme weather will only intensify unless humans take action to curb the emission of fossil fuels into the atmosphere.

Kerry Hamilton: Researchers have developed a more detailed framework for understanding and managing the risk of transmitting a bacterial disease via water spray from sinks, showers and toilets. ASU SSEBE Alumni Fred Bueler III and Vicente Terán are the new generation of Commercial Real Estate Professionals.
