IDHS Open Grant Opportunities for Youth Violence Prevention
• Under the Illinois Department of Human Services, the Office of Firearm Violence Prevention (OFVP) has a number of open grant opportunities available under the Reimagine Public Safety Act (RPSA).

ComEd Offering Internship Opportunities for College Students
• ComEd Workforce Development and Energy Efficiency teams have partnered with CLEAResult’s to develop the Strategic Energy Management (SEM) Retail Pilot program. The program aims to increase awareness of energy efficiency and teach students about monitoring energy consumption patterns in commercial (retail) facilities.

• This is a paid part-time internship at $18/hour. Online applications must be submitted by April 17. Apply here.

• Join the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Regional Administrator Diane M. Shelley and Cook County Assessor Fritz Kaegi for a forum on inequities in-home assessments and appraisals — and what stakeholders can do to address these barriers.

South Suburban College to Open the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials 
Cook County has partnered with South Suburban College to create the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (CHaRM Center). This is a permanent recycling drop-off facility available to Cook County residents that helps divert millions of pounds of waste and other hard-to-recycle items from regional landfills and water systems

The CHaRM Center will officially open on April 22. SSC will host a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event from 8am-3pm at SSC.

Still Time to Register for the April 18 SPC Spring Surplus Vehicle & Equipment Auction 

The first SPC Surplus Vehicle & Equipment Auction is scheduled for noon on Tuesday, April 18, at America’s Auto Auction (America’s AA) in Crestwood. Please note that vehicles and equipment can be listed for disposal at the NWMC auction right up to the morning of the auction day. Sell them now to get a fresh start and please keep in mind that a portion of the proceeds help support the operations of the organization. Learn more.
