SSMMA Unveils Online Tool to Collect Bike Route Conditions

SSMMA is seeking input from our members and partners to identify and classify bike routes and amenities in their communities using a custom-built online tool. The bike route data we collect will be included in a forthcoming bike map app designed for residents and visitors to safely and comfortably navigate the South Suburbs and Northwest Indiana by bike.

  • The bike map app will provide cyclists with destinations that include water fountains, bike racks, dining, and restrooms in the South Suburbs.

COVID-19 News from the Governor's Office
Vaccine Phase 1B began on January 25, 2021. It includes all Illinois residents age 65 years and older and frontline essential workers.

Regions 7 (Will & Kankakee Counties) and 10 (Cook County) are both in Phase 4 mitigations, with some additional mitigations in place for Cook County per Mitigation Order 2021-3.

For Cook County, Mitigation Order 2021-3 increases capacity limits in bars, restaurants and event spaces to the lesser of 25% or 50 people. It also includes masking language, reinforcing the need for all over two years of age who can medically tolerate wearing masks to do so in public places.

South Suburban Cook County will not expand eligibility for Phase 1B.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Board President Toni Periwinkle released a joint statement stating that their Departments of Public Health will not expand eligibility for Phase 1B of the vaccine due to limited supply.

  • Phase 1C vaccination distribution in Cook County could be delayed due to a limited supply of vaccines. Read more on NBC Chicago.
