• SSMMA's COVID Vaccine Tracker shows that the current regional vaccination rate is 56%, compared to 73.4% statewide.

• As of June 17, Suburban Cook County positivity rate reports as medium according to the CDC level.

Community Vaccination Information
• CCDPH will host vaccination clinics on June 18 in Sauk Village from 9am-4pm. This event will be held at 2700 Kalvelage Drive.

• CCDPH offers a full calendar of vaccination clinics throughout suburban Cook County.

• IDHS Division of Early Childhood (DEC) has extended the application until June 21 for the Strengthen & Grow Child Care grant funded by the American Rescue Plan Act for childcare programs affected by the pandemic. Learn more.

Construction Outreach Fair Hosted by Clayco and University Park
• Join Clayco, University Park Mayor Joseph E. Roudez III, State Senator Patrick J. Joyce, and other construction workforce professionals for an in-person Construction Outreach Fair on Friday, June 24 at University Park Village Hall.

• This event will serve as an informational session and networking event for University Park contractors, union cardholders, and job seekers who are interested in union apprenticeship and a career in the trades.
Metropolitan Mayors Caucus Accepting Applications for Operationalizing DEI Pilot Program
• This 6-month program will help municipalities operationalize diversity, equity, and inclusion within their operations by providing ongoing training, coaching, and peer support to a cohort of 10 municipalities.

• Applications are due Friday, June 24.

• The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) is accepting applications for the Future Leaders in Planning (FLIP) program.

• FLIP is a free leadership development program for high school students to explore the field of urban planning and learn about the issues that shape our region and communities.

• Applications are due by June 20. Sessions begin July 22. Learn more.
• Will County is considering several corridors for an east-west truck route through Eastern Will County.

• The survey will be open until Monday, June 27th, as part of the online public engagement period.
• State Representative Will Davis will be hosting Community Shred Day on June 18 from 9am-12pm.

• This event will take place at the District Office of Rep. William Davis located at1912 W. 174th Street, East Hazel Crest, IL.
• The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced a NOFO for the Bridge Improvement Program.

• There are three deadlines based on the type of project application.
EPA Announces Grant Opportunity for to Reduce PFA's Chemicals in Drinking Water
• The Environmental Protection Agency is inviting states and territories to apply for $1 billion Bipartisan Infrastructure Law grant funding. Small or disadvantaged communities are encouraged to apply.

• Interested applicants should submit a letter of intent by August 15.

Grant Opportunity for Healthy Food Distribution to Suburban Cook County Communities
• Cook County Department of Public Health, in partnership with the Cook County Good Food Task Force and the Chicago Food Policy Action Council, is expanding access to healthy, locally sourced emergency meals to food insecure communities in suburban Cook County.

• Grants up to $25,000 are available for 5 suburban Cook County small/mid-sized farms, food businesses, food producers, or food cooperatives.

• Applications are due July 15. Learn more.

Time to Sign Up for the Summer NWMC Surplus Vehicle & Equipment Auction

  • The July 19 SPC Surplus Vehicle and Equipment Auction is right around the corner! This event will begin at noon at America’s Auto Auction in Crestwood. America’s AA offers a wide variety of convenient services to prep your vehicles and garner the highest possible price, and as previously noted, prices for used cars are up 40% year-to-year due to chip shortages and high demand.  

  • Please note that vehicles and equipment can be listed for disposal at the NWMC auction right up to the morning of the auction day. Sell them now to get a fresh start and please keep in mind that a portion of the proceeds helps support the operations of the organization.

  • If you can’t make the July auction, the final live auction for the year will be held on Tuesday, October 18 for more information contact berry.ellis@americasautoauction.com. 

SPC Approves Gasoline, Diesel Fuel, Ethanol & Bio Diesel Fuel Contract Extension

  • The Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC) Governing Board has approved the second of three (3) possible, one-year contract extensions of the 2022 Gasoline (87, 89, & 92 Octane), Diesel Fuel, Ethanol 75 & 85, and B20 Bio-Diesel Fuel Contract (#198) with Al Warren Oil Co., Inc. from July 6, 2022, through July 5, 2023. The SPC reserves the right to extend the contract for one additional one-year period upon mutual agreement of both the vendor and the SPC on a negotiated basis. SPC Approves Telecommunications Contract Extension

  • The SPC Governing Board has approved a third of four (4) possible, one-year contract extensions of the 2022 Telecommunication Services Contract (#188) with Peerless Network from June 1, 2022 through May 31, 2023. The SPC reserves the right to extend the contract for one additional one-year period upon mutual agreement of both the vendor and the SPC on a negotiated basis.
