South Suburban Mayor Patty Eidam Presented with Distinguished International Award
Village of Lansing Mayor Patty Eidam was recently recognized as one of 2021’s Top 20 Global Women of Excellence in recognition of her outstanding contribution to society.
Mayor Eidam was nominated for her work as an ardent advocate of women’s rights, gender parity, and women’s equality. Congressman Davis’ Multi-Ethnic Advisory Task Force sponsored the program. The group was established in 2010 and plays an important role in promoting and empowering different ethnic communities. Read the official press release here.

Illinois Will Receive $13.2 Billion in State and Local Funding
Specifically, Treasury will be issuing direct payments to local governments with 50,000 residents or more. Previous relief provided through CARES only issued direct payments to governments over 500,000 residents. This new stipulation will allow many governments the opportunity to access those dollars quickly. Learn more about how the funding will be distributed to state residents.

On February 25, 2021, Phase 1B+ launched, expanding vaccine eligibility to people in Illinois with serious medical conditions and building on the state’s effort to equitably distribute the COVID-19 vaccine. South Suburban Cook County Mitigations Continue to Ease Indoor Dining Restrictions
Mitigation Order 2021-5 increases capacity limits in bars, restaurants, and event spaces to the lesser of 50% or 50 people. Learn more here.
Center for Disease Control Newsroom Releases
- People who have received all doses of the vaccine can visit with other fully vaccinated people indoors without wearing masks or staying 6 feet apart.
- Visit with unvaccinated people from one other household indoors without wearing masks or staying 6 feet apart if everyone in the other household is at low risk for severe disease.
- Refrain from quarantine and testing if they do not have symptoms of COVID-19 after contact with someone who has COVID-19.
