SSMMA Offers Southland Reactivation Incentive Toolkit for the Public
|
Local leaders recently convened to officially launch the Southland Reactivation Act - a tax abatement incentive to property developers who purchase tax-exempt commercial and industrial property within Bloom, Bremen, Calumet, Rich, Thornton, or Worth Townships in Cook County.
SSMMA has released a toolkit for municipalities that includes a step-by-step guide to the process of designating non-tax-generating commercial and industrial parcels as Southland Reactivation properties. Access the toolkit here (https://www.ssmma.org/sra-toolkit).
Additionally, the Southland Reactivation website provides an interactive web map of eligible sites and offers resources and guidance for developers and local municipalities interested in certifying eligible properties under the new law. In addition to the toolkit, the FAQ section provides extensive details for local leaders who want to gain a better understanding of how the Southland Reactivation Act can benefit their communities.
Overall, the Southland Reactivation Act will provide investors and business owners with significant property tax relief, bring jobs to the South Suburbs, and revitalize neighborhoods where abandoned properties are not being utilized.
