Together again:
The SSO and Rant Maggie Rant

The SSO welcomes back Rant Maggie Rant in the orchestra's annual celebration of Celtic music January 26.

The concert, with guest conductor Melanie Leonard on the podium, will open with Rob Roy Overture, composed by Hector Berlioz and inspired by Sir Walter Scott's historical novel of the same name. It will move on to a solo set by the Stratford Police Pipe and Drums, followed by the dramatic Highland Cathedral - and off we go! See the entire program here.

Ms. LĂ©onard previously conducted the SSO in a memorable Halloween concert in October 2017.

Stratford-based Rant Maggie Rant is led by fiddler Lindsay Schindler, Glen Dias (lead vocals / recorder) and Barry James Payne (guitars / bouzouki / vocals), with Daev Clysdale (whistles / accordion), Bob Larose (percussion) and Steve Clark (bass).

RMR is known both for its solid performance of traditional Celtic tunes and energetic interpretation of more contemporary compositions.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, January 26, in Avondale United Church, 194 Avondale Avenue, Stratford.

Tickets are available at Fanfare Books and Blowes Stationery in Stratford and at Lyric Flowers in St. Marys, as well as online and at the door. Adult: $40; student: $10. Children under 12 are admitted free.
