Pastor's Corner

Friends in Christ,

I don’t remember when I was given this prayer or by whom. I just know that I have used it many times and shared it with others. And now I share it with you. We all get overwhelmed sometimes. And sometimes we just don’t know how to pray. When that time comes, I hope this prayer may help.

Many blessings,

Whit

Dear God:

I don’t need to know how.

I don’t need to know when.

I don’t need to know why.

I don’t need to know where.

All I need to know is Who.

Thank you for being the one Who is always there for me.

The one Who never fails to respond to my frantic pleas for help.

Thank you for being the one Who is always dependable,

ready and able to support, protect and guide me

through the situations I face in my life.

No matter where I am or what I may need,

you are always the one Who will take me by the hand

and pull me through.

Thank you for being the one Who knows me better than I know myself.

Who loves me when I can’t find love within myself.

No matter what the situation or experience, you, God, are Who I need.

Thank you for being just Who you are

and for supporting me, guiding me,

and pushing me into being a better me.

For who you inspire me to be, I am so grateful.

And so it is! Amen.

Worship & Music

October is full of events and fun times! The Fall Festival will be here before we know it on October 28. The Peak Mountain Bluegrass Band will be playing on the front steps of the church. We hear them each August on Bluegrass Sunday. Children’s Sunday is on October 25 during the 10:30 am worship service. The fruits of the Spirit will be presented with a musical play. Our children will read scripture and liturgy and teach us about the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

The Chancel Choir will be singing a combination of two anthems—“What Shall I Bring to the Lord?” and “What Does the Lord Require of You?” These are questions to consider when we think about being members of the church. What will you do to strengthen your faith and the faith of others? It’s a funny thing that when we “feed” into the ministries of the church, we are in turn “fed.” It reminds me of the name of a church in Brunswick that I drove by one day. “It’s Not About You Ministries,” (pictured), is the church. And so we ask the question—what can I bring to the Lord?

Love & Gratitude,

Rhonda
