Hello to all of you at SSPC!

I am so excited to be joining the wonderful staff as your new Youth Director. I was born and raised here in Glynn County. I grew up attending two different local non-denominational churches. Until recently, I attended the same church for 17 years and spent lots of time serving in various capacities. I graduated from CCGA with a B.S. in Psychology. My husband, Josh, and I have two children, Olivia (8) and William (5). Our family has been attending SSPC since September of 2024. I am so humbled and honored to get the opportunity to invest in the youth of this church. My hope is that they will grow deeper in their relationship with God, themselves, and others. If we haven’t met already, I look forward to meeting and getting to know you and your family. If you are a middle or high school student reading this, I can’t wait to see you Sunday morning at church and Sunday evening at youth group!

See you there!

Worship & Music

Thanks to all who enhanced and blessed our Easter worship with lots of great singing and playing. It was a long journey full of worship services to get there, but our community was blessed. Rev. Rob James, First Baptist Church, is new on the block and was so thankful that these services existed. He did something similar in his previous community, and it took a while to catch on, but it’s going strong now. He has lots of ideas for other community services and reviving the Thanksgiving Service. Many of you participated in ushering, collecting offerings, placing flowers and setting up, cooking and serving meals, and attending all week. It was a great success and was really appreciated by many people.

It is still Easter until Pentecost on June 8th! Our Children will wrap up programming on April 30th with a party. Youth Ensemble will play a piece soon. The Chancel Ensemble and Early Music Ensemble will continue to meet through May. The Chancel Choir meets through June, and a group of us will be going to Montreat at the end of the month.

On April 27th, Mark Lochstampfor will conduct the choir, as I will be out of town. They will sing Ken Medema’s “Then Came Sunday.” On May 4th, Mark Miller’s haunting “I Believe” will be the offertory anthem.

The Beat Goes On! I give thanks to God for that!

Love & Gratitude, Rhonda
