There’s nothing like working with children and youth to boost your spirits! It was all so much fun that we will probably do it again, and again, and again. Youth Sunday is different each year, with different messages, talent, visuals, and the ever-popular children’s sermon. If you have the chance to volunteer with children or youth, provide food for their Sunday night dinner, or snacks on Wednesday afternoon, you should jump at it! Thanks to all who shared their musical talents on Youth Sunday: Graham Holland, Liam Holland, Sawyer Neill, Lily Roberts, Kate Head (chimes!), Ethan Tsai, Hunter Callaway, Chase Busby, William Mansfield, MacKenzie Bishop (singing sermon!), and guest Jason Cherne. It was a pleasure working with Eliza Ours to plan this day, and we will definitely miss her.
Wasn’t the Variety Show lots of fun? There’s so much talent and willingness to share among our children! Thanks to all who helped me do my part. It’s quite a team of staff and volunteers that make KidZ Crew happen each Wednesday.
Coming up the next two Sundays: The Chancel Ringers will be ringing a piece by Timothy H. Waugh, “Recollection.” Tim Waugh recently passed away, and his service was on Sunday, April 21st. He was a composer and clinician at the Montreat Worship and Music Conference for many years. Suzanne Morrison, our director, knew and worked with him. The Chancel Choir and Ringers will start out the service with “God is With Us” based on PICARDY hymn tune and arranged by Kevin McBeth. The Choir will also sing a favorite anthem, “To Love Our God” by Mark Hayes with text adapted from Ecclesiastes 1 & 12 by John Parker. On May 5th, our Early Music Ensemble will play some selections from the 1500’s and 1600’s on recorders, violin, and harpsichord, and the choir will sing “If Ye Love Me” a piece by Thomas Tallis in the madrigal style of the period.
Love & Gratitude,
Rhonda
