And just like that, Summer ends and the Fall begins! It’s that clock again -spinning out of control! I don’t know about you, but trying to find time to
slow down and be in the present is my current challenge. Sometimes I
think into the future so much that I’m a week ahead of myself. That doesn’t
necessarily mean that things are done so far ahead. This to say that the
music ministry is full steam ahead to Christmas. Again, if you would like to
join the Chancel Choir for a brief time and sing Christmas music, please
come from 6:45 to about 7:20 to practice on Wednesday evenings after
dinner. Let me know so that I can prepare for you ahead of time.
This Sunday, we will sing “With a Voice of Singing” by Martin Shaw. The
Chancel Ringers will ring at the 10:30 am service for the Prelude and
Offertory. “Let All Things Now Living” and “Lord of the Dance” both
arranged by Jason Krug are planned. Ringers are needed! Sign up with
Suzanne Morrison for future practices. On the Church Birthday, September
29th, we will present a special arrangement of “Come, Christians, Join to
Sing” for the first hymn. Words will be in the bulletin for you to follow. “Moses” will be the anthem – this is a fun adaptation by Hyun Kook of the
story of the exodus and God telling Moses that he needs to be the one to
lead the people to the promised land. The offertory will be “Festival Piece
on St. Anne” by Eugene Butler. Our Chancel Ensemble (Brass and Wind)
will be with us at the 10:30 service. Again, we will sing “Let Us Build a
House (All are Welcome)” for the introit. By the end of the month, we will
sing all five verses! It is good to add new songs to our memories to add to
all the other favorites that live in our hearts.
Anyone experienced in running sound or willing to learn – we occasionally
need subs for Nat Scott. We wish he would always be here, but everyone
needs a break once in a while! Let Nat or me know if this is an interest of
yours. This is another Silent Servant task in the church…….
Love & Gratitude,
Rhonda
