April 7, 2021
Last year, we celebrated the empty tomb at home, and it was strange. The thing I realized last year was how much of Easter is about sharing that Good News of the empty tomb with one another. This year, we were able to do that again and it made Easter 2021 was an Easter to remember. It began with a service out on the lawn just as the sun was coming up through the trees. Shortly after, we worshipped in the newly renovated sanctuary filled with hydrangeas and the sounds of “Jesus Christ Has Risen Today” being played on the near complete organ with the help of the Chancel Ensemble. Then we celebrated the resurrection a third time outside on the lawn with nearly 500 friends gathered together to celebrate the joy of the empty tomb followed by a BIG Easter Egg hunt with a special appearance from the Easter Bunny! Thank you to all those that helped make Easter at SSPC so amazing. Thank you to the officers that came on Saturday to help set up. Thank you to the ushers that were here before it was even bright on Sunday morning. Thank you to the elders that were here to pass out communion elements. Thank you to the youth that helped the Easter Bunny hide eggs, and thank you to the Easter Bunny for visiting the egg hunt! Easter Sunday was a GOOD day celebrating the GOOD News that Jesus Christ has risen!

Throughout the season of Easter, we’ll be jumping into a new sermon series where we’ll explore the sacred space of the sanctuary-the indoor sanctuary and the outdoor space that has been transformed into a sanctuary. We’ll start this week with the pews, and next week the youth will lead us in exploring the chancel area for Youth Sunday! Be sure to tune in on the livestream or in person. They are busy at work planning and preparing for this special day!

For now though, enjoy your newsletter and see you on Sunday!

Dear Friends,

Thank you for helping me celebrate my 101st birthday with your cards, flowers and food. I wasn’t expecting anything but I got the best gift of all - your love and kindness. We have the best church family! I know you love me and I love you right back.
