The next two Sundays are significant and exciting ones in the life and faith of St. Simons Presbyterian.

First, beginning this Sunday, May 16 both the 8:30A and 10:30A Sunday worship services will take place inside in the sanctuary. You do not need to pre-register to attend either indoor service, however, please remember that for the time being we are continuing to require all attendees to wear a mask and practice safe distancing while inside the building. We are also very excited to re-open the nursery this Sunday so that our families with young children can more easily attend either worship service. Finally, please note that our high-quality livestream of worship each week will now broadcast from the 10:30A worship instead of at 8:30A service.

Next Sunday, May 23 will be equally significant in the life and faith of our church family. In addition to being Pentecost Sunday when we celebrate the birth of the church, we will also be ordaining and installing our newest class of church officers (deacons and elders) as well as formally dedicating our new renovated spaces for use. In addition to offering our thanks and praise to God, we will also recognize and say thank you to many of the key leaders who helped to guide the renovation from start to finish including members of the building committee, transition team, architect, and contractor. Even as we dedicate our renovated space as part of our worship that day, know that we are hoping to plan a more formal celebration of this milestone project in the life of our church as part of our upcoming 75th church anniversary celebrations later this year. More details on that in the coming months!

See you at church. Invite a friend. Casual is fine.

Note From Ada Owens
On Monday of this week, my oldest son, Arthur, tested positive for Covid-19. Fortunately, his symptoms have remained fairly mild & he's still bouncing around the house like his usual self! However, as a result of his diagnosis, we are having to keep all three of our boys in quarantine until Monday, May 24.

The good news is that my husband, Graham, and I are both fully vaccinated, which does give us the freedom to leave the house as needed and gives Graham the capability to continue working at our restaurant, Cj's. That being said, I will be working from home over the next week and will not be in the office. I can be reached anytime during normal work hours by email ( or on my cell: 404-395-2147.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if there's anything I can help you with! I may be slower to respond than normal, but my work for the church is also a welcomed distraction!

Musical Notes
“Open now thy gates of beauty, Zion, let me enter there, where my soul in joyful duty waits for God who answers prayer; O how blessed is this place, filled with solace, light, and grace.” - Benjamin Schmolck, 1732
This Sunday, we will sing the above-quoted hymn. It welcomes us back into the sanctuary with joy and blessings. The second verse prepares us for the interior temple of the heart. It ends with this phrase – “Here of life the fountain flows; here is balm for all our woes.”
The Chancel Ringers will be featured this Sunday ringing a Fanfare for the Introit; a piece with the Chancel Choir welcoming us into the sanctuary – Surely the Lord is in This Place; and a joyful piece called “Outbursts of Joy” by long-time bell composer, Cynthia Dobrinski. Suzanne Morrison is the director of this close-knit group of 13 ringers. There are almost five octaves of bells – we only lack a few of the large bells to complete the set. Many have given money toward the purchase of bells in honor or in memory of a loved one. Contact Suzanne, Jeannine, or myself for more information.
Welcome to two new choir members – Lisa McNeal and Linda Jackson!
Make plans to attend next Sunday, which is the birthday of the church, Pentecost. Exciting times!
