Let There
Be Light!
Our contractor, Accents Lighting, began work on the outdoor lighting project this week! Thank you to all who so generously donated to Light the Way in December 2022, supporting the illumination of our historic church.
In advance of the 100th anniversary of the building’s dedication in 2027, this major beautification project will visually enhance the stunning architecture of the church, while also providing additional safety and security for parishioners, students, clergy, staff, and pedestrians.
Enhancements will include architectural spotlight fixtures, as well as the electrical wiring infrastructure to support it. The new low-voltage fixtures will "stencil" the church with light—directed toward the sky and protected by shrouds to prevent light pollution to the neighborhood. And the additional electrical cost to the parish will be very minimal.
"We are not going to wash it with light, but paint it with light," says Accents Lighting president David Sloan. "This is major surgery, but there will not be a lot of scars. You'll see light up there, but have no idea where the wires run."
The work will take about a month to complete, so please be careful as you navigate campus in March.

Above You'll notice Accent Lighting trucks on campus for the next month or so. This week, lights have been installed on the front steps of the church and along the north side.
Below Red markings on the photos below indicate where lighting will be installed on the front and sides of the church.
Spiritual Bouquet
Saints Peter and Paul is collecting contributions for a spiritual bouquet for the Walton family as they mourn the loss of Scott Walton, the pilot of the Care Flight that crashed in Nevada last week. The Waltons were parishioners of Saints Peter and Paul before they moved, so Scott could pursue his passion for flying a few years ago. They were deeply involved in our parish, with Lisa and their three girls serving in the MOMs Group, American Heritage Girls, preschool activities, and more. We ask all parishioners to keep the family in your prayers.
A spiritual bouquet is a promise of particular prayers, time spent in adoration for the recipient's intentions, Mass intentions, and other devotional acts offered up. Send your prayer commitment and a note if desired to ssppparishlife@gmail.com by March 12 to be included in the parish gift to our friend and former parishioners. Thank you!
