Hello Suzuki families,

A  Snowflake Concert Thank You! from P aule ......
Congratulations to all for a fabulous concert last weekend! Well done everyone!
Our sincere apologies for a glaring omission from the programme. Our brilliant cello soloists in Concorde's performance Gabriel's Oboe by Enio Moricone were Anton Schuster and Alexander Barnstijn. You two played exquisitely and deserve the recognition.
A huge thank you to all the volunteers who helped make this concert possible, chaperones and stage hand. We could not have done it without you!
We hope that by next week we will be able to send you a link to pictures and videos from the concert.

*Please know that there are NO SSSG group classes until Saturday January 13-when we return after the Holidays.

Warmly,
Janet Johnson

SSSG Master Class Workshops 2018 master
SSSG Master Class Workshop January 27, 2018-Masterclasses

This year, students have the opportunity of signing up for an optional master class with our expert Suzuki guest clinicians! This is a great chance to have an outside teacher give you  some new ideas and perspectives and some general inspiration in the blah days of winter! The master class format is a semi-private lesson where students a scheduled with 3 or 4 students per hour depending on the level. Students stay for the full hour and watch each other's lesson. It's a great way to learn from your peers as well as from your master teacher. On  January 27 , master classes will be scheduled throughout the day, working around the GYMC orchestra rehearsals. Schedules will be out first thing in January.

Another exciting new activity we are adding this year is the opportunity to participate an Introduction to Bass Workshop that day from 2-4 pm with Jesse Dietschi! This workshop is open to violin, viola and cello students age 8 and up. Double basses will be provided by the school. Spaces are limited, only 6 students can participate in this class. We will take students on a first come, first serve basis. Instruments for the introduction to bass workshop will be provided by The Sound Post. Shhhhh... you are the first to know... SSSG is planning to start a Suzuki bass program in  the 2018/19 school year! Students of all ages will be able to join the program.

Please fill out the form below, and return it to Anna Hughes' file folder with your cheque by December 22nd.

III The Guelph Chamber Choir invites you, your family, and friends to our annual performance of Handel's Messiah

On Saturday December 23, 2017 at 7:30 pm Canadian soloists and an orchestra of period instruments will perform Handel's Messiah with the Guelph Chamber Choir. This annual concert has continued to be a major success drawing near sold out audiences every year. Since 1999, concert master Joe Lanza has contracted many of the finest Canadian instrumentalists who play on instruments replicating those of the Baroque era. Performing together with players knowledgeable in historically-informed performance practices over the past 17 years has been a very exciting journey for the members of the GCC. The expressive quality of the instruments enhances stylistic considerations for the singers and soloists, contributing to performances that our audience members enjoy immensely for their clarity, nuanced phrasing and expressive delivery.

This concert also marks our music director Gerald Neufeld's final Messiah with our choir in this concert season before his retirement, so you won't want to miss it. A true Christmas tradition for many local families! Please join us.

Copies of our new Christmas CD "Carols of the Bells" will be available for sale in the lobby at this concert. The perfect stocking-stuffer for the choral music fans on your list.
