Things to know about the festival:
  • If your child is playing an accompanied piece (with piano), your teacher will schedule a rehearsal with Ken Gee when he/she (the teacher) can be present.
  • Ken will invoice you for the rehearsal and performance time.
  • During the week of the festival, students participating in the festival don't have a private lesson. In lieu of a lesson, their teacher attends their rehearsal with the piano and their performance at the festival.
  • Students must provide the adjudicator with an original copy of their music. Please submit your music to the festival secretary at the beginning of the class.
  • Students may not perform from a photocopy. If you are performing with music, please make sure you are using an original.
  • Parents are allowed to videotape their child's performance but should not record the adjudication.
  • The festival provides a warm-up room at the GYMC. Please arrive early to allow your child to warm-up.
  • Make sure your child is well fed and well hydrated before a performance.
  • There is no formal attire for solo performances, however, out of respect for the audience and put the final touch on your presentation, performers should dress nicely. No jeans or running shoes please. Make sure you are comfortable in your performance attire. Very high heels, slipping spaghetti straps or clothing that restrains the freedom of motion are to be avoided.
  • Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend any Festival classes.  Audience members only pay $2 for admission!  Festival Passes are available for $12 and allow entry to some 160 sessions during the entire Festival!  You will be sure to hear some stellar performers as they share their incredible musical talents!  Come out and support our aspiring, young musicians!
