Stepping into Practice: BSW Juniors Engage in Biopsychosocial Intake Simulation |
Earlier last week, Junior BSW students engaged in a full-day intake simulation to practice biopsychosical assessments. This hands-on approach provided a safe space for students to develop essential social work skills, such as critical thinking and assessment, in a setting that mimics real-world scenarios.
“The event was a wonderful way for BSW students to engage in a simulated role play where they were able to practice the skills taught in the first year of the BSW program. It was an opportunity for students and staff to come together for collaboration and conversation about how to approach a complex case”, said Dr. Robin DeLuca-Acconi.
| The day was possible because of the faculty, staff and MSW student volunteers including Jeanette Lukas, Kenneth Edwards, Suzanne Velazquez, Robin DeLuca-Acconi, Haylee Hebenstreit, Richard Helling, Jennifer Davidson, Shameeka White (MSW '25), Nerissa Beebee (MSW '25), Dave Pugh (MSW '25) and Heather Bromberg (MSW '26). “I love participating in the simulation lab because it provides our students a safe place to 'test out' the skills they are working so hard to learn”, said Dr. Haylee Hebenstreit. | |
