New Award- "Flying Further and Faster" -Kathi Meyer
|
The SSWSC is excited to announce a new Year-End Award for one female Nordic Combined athlete in the U16 or under. This award, called the "Flying Further and Faster" Award, was sponsored and founded by this year by Kathi Meyer, a long-standing community supporter of the SSWSC and its Nordic-Combined programs (19 year Steamboat Springs resident and city council member).
'This award recognizes a female Nordic-Combined athlete participating in the U16 or under programs of the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, who has exhibited exceptional strength of character through her commitment and passion towards achieving personal Nordic-Combined athletic goals with the SSWSC, who has embraced the concept of "teamwork" that is reflected in her supportive participation as a team member of her SSWSC program, and who also has a disciplined focus towards academics.'

Congratulations to Wyatt Gebhardt!
For many years, Wyatt has shown up early to Howelsen Hill ready to train. During the sessions he is focused, but still able to have fun and mix it up with his teammates. After training he makes it a point to thank those who have helped him - every day. There was much gratitude when in the skiathlon event (a 10k classic ski followed by a 10k skate) at the Junior World Championships last week, Wyatt started back in the pack and finished in 12th place overall, the top American and second fastest for his age. Way to go, Wyatt!
