Be Unique - Be a Leader - Be Aquinas
Knightly News - August 6, 2017
Principal's Post

Few things mark the start of school as well as the Annual Pig Roast. This year the Pig Roast will take place this coming Saturday, August 12, starting at 6:00pm in Sirpilla Stadium. It will be an evening of great food and entertainment as well as a chance to reacquaint with friends who all share a love for St. Thomas Aquinas. All proceeds benefit STA Athletics. I strongly encourage all in the Aquinas family to attend. Tickets may be purchased from any STA High School athlete or you may contact, Ryan Hill, STA Athletic Director. I hope to see you there.

Here are some other important dates:
Freshmen Orientation and Class Dinner: Tuesday, August 15
Middle School Dinner: Thursday, August 17
First Day of School: Tuesday, August 22

Today we celebrate the Transfiguration of our Lord. I just came across an inspiring video describing the Transfiguration and what it means told from the perspective of two young men (teenagers). Check it out if you are interested in letting the story of the Transfiguration transfigure your life.

H ave a great Aquinas week!

St. Thomas Aquinas, pray for us.

CLASSMATE UPDATES
Brittany Hines '12 - Finds success in musical theatre.  Hines was crowned Carnation Festival Queen during the 2012-13 year after graduating from St. Thomas Aquinas High School. Shortly after the Alliance native was crowned, she left for Hartford, Connecticut, where she attended The Hartt School at the University of Hartford, studying musical theatre. While attending college, she also studied costumes, props, and the business aspect of musical theatre.

After college graduation, Hines started a job in Manchester, New Hampshire at the Palace Theatre where she performed seven shows in seven weeks. Hines worked there for about a year at which time she acted in four main stage productions, was the assistant director for a musical, worked with the youth program, and even directed and choreographed "Curtain," a musical which she wrote.

Currently, Hines is working for the New London Barn Playhouse in New London, New Hampshire, where she recently directed "Stewart Little." Hines will also be touring for 2 1/2 months with the Bright Star Touring Theatre. She will be helping to put on plays for children at various locations. Read more about Brittany in the Alliance Review.

Ways to Support STA
St Thomas Aquinas High School is partnering with Schoola ( www.schoola.com ).

What’s Schoola? It’s a great way to raise funds for our school. Schoola collects pre-loved women's and children’s clothes, preps and sells them online, and gives 40% of the proceeds (minus the cost of inbound shipping) back to St Thomas Aquinas High School to help fund programs for our kids. That’s $2 out of every $5 earned back to our school! Simply click on the image to view our very own Schoola landing page where you can request a bag and view our progress and funds earned

The AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases to St. Thomas Aquinas High School & Middle School to help fund programs for our students. Every little bit counts, donations quickly add up.

It's easy! Type smile.amazon.com and log into your Amazon.com account. Select St. Thomas Aquinas High School (yes the Middle School benefits too!), Louisville, OH. That's it. Now whenever you make a purchase STA benefits.

Thank you for your support!

Don't forget to forward this to your family and friends!  And encourage them to sign up to receive their own copy of this email blast.
