On September 20th,
The Shuck
celebrated its World Premiere at Cape May Stage. Since then, many patrons and critics alike have hailed the show as one of their favorite in Cape May Stage's history. In our most recent review, Howie Shapiro discuses the elements that make
The Shuck
so impressive:
|
|
"The show’s design is impressive: Fisher’s stage-filling boat never rocks, but it seems to because of the constant creaking in Mary Kate Smyser’s sound design, complete with the occasional squawks of distant seagulls. Sera Bourgeau’s costumes nicely outfit the two commercial seafarers, and Heather Crocker lights various hours of the day and night just right. All this, plus the plot, give the “The Shuck” a soul filled with sea air."

Although there are just a few performances left, there are still seats available to see
The Shuck
before it closes!

"It is an interesting biological fact that all of us have in our veins the exact same percentage of salt in our blood that exists in the ocean, and, therefore, we have salt in our blood, in our sweat, in our tears. We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea - whether it is to sail or to watch it - we are going back from whence we came."

All she needs to revolutionize the American government is the help of one ultra-conservative senator’s aide on the cusp of a career breakthrough, and one bleeding-heart liberal blogger who will do anything for her cause.

With a bevy of suspects, an intrepid police officer aims to identify the killer. This musical features just two actors - one playing the investigator, one playing the variety of suspects - and the only weapon at their disposal is a piano. Can the officer make his suspects spill their guts and sing? Murder For Two: The Holiday Edition puts the laughter in manslaughter.
