Science Literacy Week
Science Literacy Week is a nationwide celebration of science coming September 19-25. At heart, the week is about providing all the outstanding science and science outreach organizations in Canada a chance to join together in a blitz of activity designed to highlight the great work they do year round. Nature hikes, stargazing, researcher showcases, science demos, public talks - if it engages the public and celebrates science it's a welcome addition to the week.

With Record-Breaking Success in 2016, Science Odyssey
Awaits You for its Second Edition
Formerly known as National Science and Technology Week,
Science Odyssey completed its first edition with resounding success! Close to 400 organizations came together to deliver more than 600 events across Canada, bringing science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to more than 200 communities.
World records were broken—public participation was unprecedented, the campaign hashtag #OdySci was a trending topic in Ottawa on Twitter. Science Odyssey gained over 7,000 followers on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Its website, hosted by science.gc.ca, received a great amount of visitors during the 2016 campaign. A dedicated email address was created to provide timely and useful responses to questions from partners and the general public. Above all, science was made available to Canadians of all ages in a fun, engaging and inspiring way.
Science Odyssey brings science to the streets, celebrates science and creates public awareness of Canadian achievements in science and technology. Led by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), it connects researchers, scientists, government, academia, community organizations and science centres with the public.
Science Odyssey is an open invitation to all organizations and institutions with a mandate to promote STEM. It fosters scientific curiosity, raises science awareness in the general public, and inspires the next generation of science leaders. Partnering with Science Odyssey is an excellent opportunity to further engage and attract your target audience to your local events.
You can already partner with us if
you have an event planned during the second edition taking place May 12 to 21, 2017. You can also consider aligning the dates of your upcoming events with Science Odyssey to be part of a truly national event.
We hope that all STAN members can join Science Odyssey in 2017!
