STAR Fund allocates $86,000 to Five Projects

Williston Economic Development - The Williston City Commission has approved $86,000 in STAR Fund grants for five projects in Williston and Ray. The action was taken at the commission meeting on Tuesday, July 23, 2019. This round of allocations included three Flex PACE and two Community Build/Growth grants. The July grants primarily featured expansions of existing businesses including a trucking firm and day care. Read More
Williston PD hires New Investigations Captain

City of Williston - The Williston Police Department introduced their new Investigations Captain this week, Captain Steve Gutknecht. Captain Gutknecht's position is one of many positions within the Williston Police Department, which has grown from 23 officers in 2009 to 74 officers in 2019 in order to keep up with Williston and Williams County's growing population. Read More
Bankers tour XWA Project
Williston Economic Development - Williston Economic Development and Small Business Development Center officials gave representatives of local financial institutions a perimeter tour of the new XWA Airport recently. A total of 14 bankers visited the new airport. The tour gave them a behind the scenes look at the $273 million project. "What's going on at the airport shows there's sustainability in the market and this will allow them to assess their individual situations," said Shawn Wenko, executive director of Williston Economic Development. The first flight is expected to land at the airport on October 10.
Crematorium to open in Williston
KUMV-TV - Williston's first crematorium is under construction and will be open this fall. Right now, loved ones are transported to crematoriums other cities. The owners of Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home say five years ago when they bought the company, only twenty percent of families choose cremation; today they see that option as often as the traditional method. The Coughlins will host a seminar on cremation on Aug. 27 at the ARC. Read More

Williston Herald - In a preliminary drawing of what one of the learning commons areas in a proposed Innovation Academy for Williston Public School District No. 1, a saying is written on the wall: "Sometimes your only available form of transportation is a leap of faith." On Tuesday, July 23, the district took a leap of faith of its own, launching its drive to raise millions of dollars to make the proposal a reality. Williston Downtowners Association - The Williston Downtowners Association is thrilled to be hosting this years North Dakota Downtown Conference! Former Watford City Hospital for Sale
 A Request for Proposals has been issued for the acquisition of the former hospital, clinic and a single family home in Watford City. 
McKenzie County Farmer - One year after the McKenzie County Healthcare Systems (MCHS) moved into its new 120,000 square foot, $75 million facility, the former hospital, clinic and two other properties in Watford City are going up for sale. "While the former buildings have outlived their useful purpose as a hospital or a clinic, these buildings are able to be re-commissioned for numerous other purposes," states Dan Kelly, MCHS CEO.  For the full story, subscribe to the McKenzie County Farmer
Survey to gauge Retail Needs in Sidney, Richland County
Roundup - The Sidney Area Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture and Richland Economic Development Corp (REDC) will conduct a survey of area consumers to gauge the needs and resources available in Sidney's retail market. Halliburton lays out Future in Shale Plays
North American Shale - Halliburton is deploying a new North American unconventional oil and gas operational playbook to maximize its fiscal results. As the energy service giant's clients change their focus from acreage and production growth at all costs to operating within cashflow, Halliburton has had to adapt. The company is now more willing to right-size operations through cost reductions and frack fleet laydowns than ever before. CEO Jeff Miller reminded investors of Halliburton's new stance towards unconventionals during the company's second quarter update. Read More
