AFTER SCHOOL & SUMMER EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM Supporting at-risk youth in North Fulton since 1993
|
Dear Friends of STAR House,
It's hard to believe that another summer has come and gone, and a new school year has begun! We anticipate a great year and are grateful for the success of our recent Summer Enrichment Camps. These annual camps provide engaging educational opportunities, helping alleviate the effects of summer learning loss while allowing kids to explore new subjects and interests. Research shows that youth can lose two to three months of reading and math skills during summer break. This further emphasizes the need for STAR House to be present for our students year-round.
Recognizing the value of quality after school programs and the need for such within our community, we are excited to announce the opening of a STAR House program at Holcomb Bridge Middle School! Launching this fall, we are thrilled to partner with their staff and provide daily educational support to their students. Last year, our program wait lists grew to 80 at-risk children, waiting patiently to join the STAR House family. Your generosity and support will continue to help us open our doors to those deserving children in need.
Our current Back to School Campaign will directly support the launch of this new program and help us continue to enhance existing offerings. Other exciting events include our Big Hat Bingo luncheon, Fantasy Football, a new TOPGOLF event - there's something for everyone! We look forward to another incredible year at STAR House. Thank you for your continued investment in our mission!

Volunteer STARlight
~ Mr. Joe Duffy ~
|
If you visit our after school program at Mimosa Elementary, chances are you will run into Joe Duffy, a devoted volunteer who has become a daily fixture at the program site for the past year. A Roswell resident for 15 years, Joe is a shining example of what it means to give back to our community. Between his duties as the CEO of Offshoreinsiders.com and writing features on dining for ScoopOTP.com, Joe serves as a volunteer tutor and mentor with our Mimosa students. He says, "Every child is capable of greatness and it all starts with an education. Some kids need more help than others. I am grateful to STAR House that I can be part of the solution. I've seen with my own two eyes how much these kids want to learn. They made me believe in them." Thank you, Joe, for your service!
