Brew-tiful moments at the Starbooks Book Tasting event

Great authors were on the menu this week in the CMS media center. Mrs. Camille Lovelace, the media center specialist, created a literary experience for students with a cozy Starbooks Book Tasting event. Students from Mrs. Whitfield's eighth-grade ELA class explored different literary genres and crafted their impressions about the books while enjoying coffee and sweet treats.

New year, new opportunity for healthy habits

The new year is here, so it's a great time to reflect on the last year and make plans on how to be better in 2024. One thing to consider is making a commitment to improving mental and physical wellness. People often say that they don’t have time for exercise. All it takes is carving out 30 minutes three to four days a week to make improvements. Research says that it takes 66 days before a behavior will become automatic. Committing to mental and physical health for 66 days and seeing how one feels afterwards may lead to a lasting positive change.

Try these:

  • Walk a mile a day for 66 days
  • Strength train every day for 66 days
  • Drink a liter of water a day for 66 days
  • Meditate daily for 10 minutes for 66 days
