Due to COVID19 and social distancing recommendations, all of our in-person fundraising events we had planned for April have been postponed until further notice. The good news is, everyone can still be involved "virtually" in Sexual Assault Awareness and ACTION month! Here's how...

Tree Ceremony

In support of our friends at Victims for Justice, we invite you to participate in their Annual Tree Ceremony. This ceremony is a centerpiece event for Crime Victims' Rights Week honoring those affected by violent crime. Attendees are invited to tie colored ribbons, signifying eleven types of violent crime on branches to represent themselves or others who have been impacted by violent crime. This year, VFJ will live-stream the tying of 11 honorary ribbons. If you wish for a staff member to hang a ribbon in honor of you or a loved one please submit a request  here  by April 20 at 11:00.
Denim Day 2020 on April 29
Honoring Denim Day the VIRTUAL Way!

Denim Day asks community members, elected officials, businesses and students to make a social statement with their fashion statement by wearing jeans on this day as a visible means of protest against the misconceptions that surround sexual violence.

You can do this no matter where you are. Whether you're working from home, or braving the world as an essential worker, you can help STAR clients on Denim Day. The suggested donation is $5 to wear a teal awareness ribbon pin, and $20 to wear jeans to "work." STAR to Benefit from the Nation's Longest Running Women's Triathlon

The Gold Nugget Triathlon Board of Directors has selected STAR - Standing Together Against Rape as the non-profit beneficiary of the GNT fundraiser this year! GNT registrants will have the chance to make a donation to STAR during full-registration. The GNT plans to match all donations collected up to $5,000. We are so honored by this designation, thank you GNT! This will go a long way in supporting our mission, in alignment with the mission of the Gold Nugget Triathlon which is " dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls through athletics."

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month
STAR OPERATIONS UPDATE

The health and safety of our staff and clients are of utmost importance to us. In light of COVID-19, this is how STAR is modifying operations until further notice:

  • Direct Service Advocates will continue to provide immediate response in compliance with updated safety precautions at medical facilities. We are also providing support, information, resources and referrals by phone.

  • No appointments will take place at the STAR Office.

  • All nonessential employees are working from home and maintaining social distancing.

  • All meetings will be held by teleconference. 

  • Counseling appointments will occur via Telehealth.

  • We will continue to reevaluate to determine next steps and will provide updated information as it evolves.

  • As always, the crisis line is staffed and available for information and support 24/7/365.
