"The Crystal Village" Meditation Station

The Crystal Village

by Michael J. Kallstrom, MS Geoscience

The Crystal Village came to us from Diamantina in the heart of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Diamantina means “diamond” in Portuguese and alludes to the mining town’s historical diamond mine and diamond museum, while Minas Gerais translates to “General Mines,” alluding to the rich mineral resources of the landlocked Brazilian state, including gold, diamonds, and other precious gems. Although countless deposits of quartz such as amethyst, rose quartz, smoky quartz, and a wide range of “included” quartz containing fuchsite, tourmaline, rutile, and lithium are known to occur in Minas Gerais, we were introduced to a unique family of etched smoky citrine quartz crystals instead. We were not looking to purchase a high-dollar collection like this one, but they found us, and we could not ignore the call. Here's the story of how the Crystal Village found us...

"The Mother," the third largest etched smoky citrine from the Crystal Village with a well-defined point and tapered figure; not shown, tree or flame-like formation at root of crystal resulting from a fracture along a former fluid inclusion

"The Daughter," the fourth largest smoky citrine with glittering effect along the more tabular polished surface and fin-like crystal twins

"The Son," the smallest etched smoky citrine with tourmaline inclusions, dolphin twin, and polished point

Trunk Show Sneak Peek

Jewelry & Woo Woo in Reception

Made by a hobbyist gone pro, these bolos feature natural stone cabochons set into wire on braided leather cords. Limited to one each of Larimar, Lapis, Amethyst, Boulder Opal, Arizona Turquoise, and Tiffany Stone.

Golden Grass Jewelry Line

A Karen-favorite, this Brazilian jewelry is made from a special kind of grass . The grass is woven into cords that are shaped and bound into unique pieces of natural artwork. Lightweight and perfect to dress up any outfit!

Sea Witch Line

This jewelry line falls into our "affordable" category as we look for alternatives to silver and gold due to high prices. It features assorted sea shells carved into rings, bound into bracelets using twine, or hung from leather cord to make necklaces.

Laser-Etched Wood Line

Another of our "affordable" options, these laser-etched wood pendants showcase a variety of geometric patterns with assorted gemstone accents including Phosphosiderite, Red Jasper, Labradorite and more!

Wings & Bones Line

Although these utilize metal for the ear hooks, the unique feature is the use of drilled fangs, vertebrae, and scarab wings to incorporate affordable alternatives to precious metals and gems. The beetle wing jewelry is especially nice due to the music it makes.

Recycled Plastic Bangles

Made by hand in Senegal, these colorful African-motif bangle bracelets are made from recycled plastics. They are soft to the touch with a comfortable fit.

Nut & Seed Collection

Loose Herkimers

This high-vibration variety of quartz comes from Herkimer, New York and was originally believed by early settlers to be diamonds due to their crystal habit, luster and graphite inclusions.

Wet & Dry Ethiopan Precious Opal

Available in a variety of colors, these opals all show that highly desirable rainbow play-of-color. Available dry for cutting/polishing to make into jewelry, and wet for collectors and admirers.

Gobi Desert Agates

A unique material only available through a few reputable sources, these agates showcase unique formations and textures. Black & green varieties have been heated to enhance their colors. From the Vendor's Mouth: https://www.facebook.com/reel/837081626014104

Vishnevite, a new find

Never before carried by Nature's Treasures, this mineral comes to us from the Vishnevy Mountains in Russia. Belonging to the feldspathoid group of minerals, this mineral is a low-silica version of feldspar. Online sources site this stone as beneficial for emotional balancing and throat chakra activation, but little to no information has been published about its metaphysical properties. Come discover what they might be first-hand. Only 12 pieces available.

Nuumite, a rare find

This extremely rare metamorphic rock is composed of Anthophyllite and Gedrite that give it flashes of iridescent blues, greens and golds. We only have a handful of bracelets, tumbled stones and a single polished slab available.

Melodic Bells & Bowls

We expanded our musical instrument offering with some unique hand-held bells and bowls. One especially exciting new arrival are double-ended hand-held singing bowls that have two vibrational notes per piece (only half a dozen available); they come with a stone striker and have been tested by the owner herself who has yet to break one (but maybe keep out of reach of children).

New Fluorescent Features in Reception

Pink Aragonite

Coming to us from the middle-east, these aragonites stand out from the typical whites, yellows and blues that we sell at Nature's Treasures. The pink color is most likely due to the presence of manganese (the same element that causes Mangano-Calcite to be pink along with other pink minerals like Rhodonite and Rhodochrosite). Manganese is a powerful activator, meaning it reacts with invisible ultaviolet light to produce colors from the visible light spectrum.

In this case, similarly to Mangano-Calcite, a pinkish-orange fluorescence occurs when Pink Aragonite is exposed to UV light.

This material is a powerful heart-healer, helping individuals heal from hurts they are both conscious of (pink in daylight) and unconscious of (pink in UV light), making it perfect for healing traumas, addictions, and other states of the emotional body that prevent self-love and relationships.

Amethyst w/ Phantoms

Mined in a small area of Brazil, these Amethysts sometimes have Citrine, Smoky and Clear Quartz present as well making them energetic power-houses in their own rights. What makes these crystals, pendants and pendulums especially exciting is that UV light will activate electrons found in the crystal phantoms within them.

Although the exact mineral is not determined, one possibility is the mineral Powellite, which is known to product a yellow-orange glow similar to those visible when these Amethysts are exposed to UV light.

Pink Petroleum-Included Quartz Crystals

Many of you may remember when we carried Lemurian Quartz and later Pink Lemurian Quartz, and how those minerals were energetically similar but different. Well, the same is true comparing Petroeum-Included Quartz with these Pink Petroleum-Included Quartz crystals. Despite the soft touch of pink in these crystals, the organic oils present in these crystals' fluid inclusions react with UV light the same as with their colorless counterparts.

Fluid inclusions produce a range of colors from orange to violet when exposed to UV light; the most prevalent color is this yellow-white.

These crystals connect the solar plexus, heart and crown chakras for active emotional healing. Effective as a tool to encourage and maintain mental health practices, these crystals help one stay motivated to "do the work" required to make progress with mental and emotional therapies.

Purple Fluorite & Chalcedony Geodes

These beautiful geodes combine both colors of the crown chakra, white and purple, but thanks to the presence of a molecule known as uranyl, found in many hydrothermal chalcedony deposits due to the similar chemical nature of silicon (Si) and uranium (U). Don't fret though! The amount of radiation given off by the uranyl molecules in geodes like these is considered safe for handling, just don't grind them up to ingest or inhale.

The amazing result of uranyl presence is the brilliant lime-green fluorescence that occurs.

These brain-shaped geodes remind users to use their mental and intuitive gifts actively in order to benefit the human collective passively as a whole. Fluorite being "the Stone of the Mind" doubles the effectiveness of "mind over matter" and using thoughts to manifest a different reality as perception affects so much of the human experience.

***Remember***

Hand-held UV lights are available for sale in the Rock Depot.

When observing ANY fluorescence in minerals & rocks, do NOT look directly at the ultraviolet (UV) light, as the UV radiation is the same as that found in the sun that causes sunburn and vision loss with prolonged exposure.

In the Depot & Rock Yard

Blue Apatite

$12-16 per pound

This beautiful blue material makes great accent pieces in large pots, aquariums, terrariums, and even on a mantle! Although a more challenging material to work with, many lapidaries also carve, cut and cab this semi-precious gem.

Assorted Geodes

$8-34 per pound

You never know what you'll get when you crack open a Geode, the original "grab bag" direct from Mother Nature, herself! These spherical rocks can form in many different environments, but in all cases a crystal-filled cavity exists.

Moroccan Agate

$16-22 per pound

Known for a wide-range of vibrant colors, this material is sought after by agate collectors and lapidaries, alike. Being composed of Quartz-Chalcedony, this materials takes a nice polish resulting in a vitreous, glassy luster.

Negative Entropic Quartz

$35 per pound

Entropy is the measure of chaos within a system, so negative entropy means to increase order within a system. When Nature's Treasures was first introduced to this material, we were informed that the reason for the name resulted because even when removed from their host rocks, these quartz crystals continued to grow. The miner believed that the crystals pulled elements out of the surroundings and arranged them so that crystallization could continue. This has never been scientifically proven, but it does allude to the use of these crystals to reduce chaos and increase personal growth in one's life.

Madagascar Quartz

$26-39 per pound

The quartz points and clusters that Nature's Treasures sourced from Madagascar have a wide-ranging set of physical characteristics. Most crystals range in color from snow-white to lilac-pink. The crystal habits can be twinned, double-terminated, clustered, and in many cases "candle-like" with multiple crystals growing up the sides of an individual point. Crystals might have unique "faces" or natural facets, such as a timelink, isis, window, and many others. Regardless of which of these crystals chooses you, they will make a fine addition to any home, garden or office for their striking appearance.
