Last weekend for the Raleigh Flea Market as the
N.C. State Fair approaches
RALEIGH –
It’s getting closer to time for the N.C. State Fair. This weekend marks the last weekend before the Raleigh Flea Market temporarily leaves the fairgrounds to make room for the N.C. State Fair. The Raleigh Flea Market will close on Sunday, Sept. 29, at 6 p.m. and remain closed through the entire month of October. The flea market re-opens Saturday, Nov. 9, and will continue to operate on Saturdays and Sundays year-round from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“It’s a great weekend to come out to snag some last-minute bargains,” said Kent Yelverton, fair manager. “The State Fair will also be selling advance admission and ride tickets in the Flea Market area from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fairgoers will be able to purchase admission, ride, group, grandstand, State Fair Flyer and State Fair SkyGazer tickets.”
Other events at the fairgrounds this weekend include Kelby Costner in Concert in Dorton Arena, Special Olympics at the Hunt Horse Complex, NCHJA “C” Outdoors Horse Show at the Hunt Horse Complex, AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day in the Holshouser Building and TGA Navaratri Garba Dance in the Exposition Center. Event information including event times is available online at

In order to prepare for the annual fair, access to the fairgrounds will be restricted to people who have credentials or special access passes issued by the N.C. State Fair starting on Monday, Sept. 30. State Fair employees, vendors, exhibitors and members of the news media are among those who will be allowed on the grounds if they have the proper credentials.
